It seems every time presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney gets conservatives looking his way, he does something to turn them off and remind them that one of the greatest concerns they had about him during the primary season was his soft record on the conservative social agenda.
...snip
Romneys speech to the NAACP was an otherwise unremarkable repetition of his standard campaign pitch until he got to this line, ... I hope to represent all Americans, of every race, creed and sexual orientation. From the poorest to the richest and everyone in between."
Of course, the President represents all Americans, but by including sexual orientation along with race and creed, Governor Romney undid a lot of the goodwill ...
Governor Romney and his inexperienced establishment Republican staff apparently failed to notice that by putting sexual orientation on the same plane as race and religion, Romney just undercut the rational and philosophical basis for opposition to same sex marriage. It also played right into the hands of supporters of the radical homosexual agenda.
Since Governor Romney and his speechwriters apparently havent figured this out, we will clarify it for them: social conservatives do not believe sexual orientation creates the same kind of constitutional rights that forbid discrimination based on race or religion.
Thats why we support the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), for example, and why social conservatives lead support for marriage amendments ...
By pandering to those who want to give sexual orientation the same status under the Constitution as race and religion enjoy, Mitt Romney put many social conservatives back on the sidelines of the presidential campaign, wondering whether what he said at Liberty University is what he really believes -- or if he was just pandering to us, too.

Gonna have to have a link to believe THAT, Larry.
It ain’t so. I will never support an abortionist, homosexualist statist for president.
I got your May 4th Post right HERE.
Now buzz off troll.
We really are on the same team.
I know....I don’t even know how I feel about Romney (bad enough) possibly choosing Condi Rice for VP.....This is getting worse.
He's really, really making it hard for conservatives to vote for him. Is he trying to throw the election as McCain did or what??
Yeah, we're going to have a Confrontation with Obama. LOL
What would that “confrontation” entail, armed Patriots surrounding the White House if he wins the November Election? How about Keyboard Warriors armed with iPads?
The Primaries are over. Your arguments obviously fell on deaf ears regarding your Candidate of choice and Romney is the Republican Nominee. Your Post reads like the Primaries have just started, instead of just ended.
It will be Obama or Romney. If you will be entertained watching the Obama Victory Party, so be it. I and others here won't be sharing your joy.
>”We can either vote FOR government tyranny, or we can vote FOR denying a popular mandate to the government tyrant who will inevitably win”< - A one Vote win by Obama will be treated as a mandate for Socialism, don't fool yourself.
Unless we are talking Cars, Dogs, Guns or Kittens, don't bother responding. I have lost interest in the “Romney is just like Obama” mantra.
Have a nice evening.
Now that that is cleared up, you were making the point that those not supporting Romney automatically are Obama supporters.
Is there anything in the world in JR's history that would lead you to believe that he is an Obama supporter?
...just take us for granted.
And justifiably, some aren't taking it any more.
Since you’re incapable of either posting a working link or reading, I’ll do it for you:
JimRob form 4 May

Key points:
- doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots.
- And we must stop ripping each other apart!!
- Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!
See post #129
As I said, that’s irrelevant, did you even bother to read what I wrote?
My link works fine. It takes you to post 122 on this thread where Jim Robinson denied that he ever encouraged anyone to support Mitt Romney. Before you accuse people of being incapable of reading or posting a link you might try following the link and reading it.
In regard to Jim Rob's post of 5/4/12 if you were actually capable of reading you would have noted that Jim Rob had indicated that in his opinion we had already lost the presidency and that he wanted us to double our efforts in getting "Conservatives" elected to every slot on the ballot. NOT REPUBLICANS but CONSERVATIVES.
Mitt Romney is not now nor has he ever been a CONSERVATIVE.
So if you are going to run around this forum accusing Jim Robinson of telling Freepers to work for or vote for Romney in November, then you are lying about what he said.
I have pinged Jim Rob again to your post. I will request that he straighten you out. We don't need asshats like you running down those of us who are principled conservatives who will not bend our principles to vote for pro-abortion, gun grabbing, homosexualist, socialized medicine implementing liberals who pretend to be Republicans because we fear pro-abortion, gun grabbing, homosexualist, socialized medicine implementing liberals who happen to be democrats.
Sorry to bug you on this Jim, but could you straighten this guy out. Apparently his attitude is pretty common among some of the Freepers here.
I find it amazing that you have the nerve to refer back to that post, since your standard tactic is to insult FReepers if they don’t support Romney. That’s not ripping people apart?
Also, you might take note, regarding point #1, that Romney isn’t a Conservative. Therefore, JR didn’t call for everyone on FR to go to the polls and vote for him.
Could you focus for a moment on what “Obama IS” rather than what Romney is not?
Key points from JimRob:
- doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots.
- And we must stop ripping each other apart!!
- Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!
Why don't you just ask Jim Rob to tell you what he thinks of Romney and whether or not he is going to vote for Romney?
Jim has made his position clear on what he intends to do and apparently you just cant accept his response.
Since xzins and Jim Robinson and I all share the same attitude on Romney why don't you pick you just have this debate directly with Jim and then decide if you still want to denigrate Freepers who are willing to take a principled stand on this issue.
I’m just saying, “vote straight conservative” doesn’t mean “vote Romney”. Don’t put words in JR’s mouth that he didn’t say.
Oh...it must mean “undermine Romney, to Obama’s benefit”....?
It means what is says: “vote conservative”. JR is not a shy man. If he intended to endorse Romney, I’m certain that he would not be coy about it.
I remembered that, but it in no way said we should all get behind Romney. (And JR’s sentiment regarding Romney is expressed again for the gazillionth time above at #122, I think.)
And, since it said to vote conservative, there’s no way it really included Romney.
However, in the spirit of the “stop ripping one another” section, do you think it AOK to be calling romney non-supporters Obama supporters?
Try this on for size...
- And we must stop ripping each other apart!!
- Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!
