I use Yippy (www.yippy.com). It keeps your searches confidential and it categorizes your search results, so you can bypass all of the white noise. For instance, if you type malibu, the screen will sort into the results for the beach, cars, etc... .

The quality of the search results are as good as google.

Word to the wise -- you might want to be careful. Yahoo is so inept at security that a bunch of Ukranian hackers just stole a punch of unencrypted (yeah, you read that right) passwords using an trick (SQL injection) so old it ought to have a long white beard.
