“Would a conservative hi tech redneck have a hard time in Arkansas?”
I’m originally from the Oklahoma City area, but right now I’m living in Arkansas in a small town with Fort Smith the closest city. Here’s my take:
* Politics is mixed. The town where I’m living seems to be Democrat. I bet most Arkansas Democrats tend to be Dems because of tradition and because they have bought into the “rich Republican” stereotype. They aren’t like the radical NE liberals.
* Churches are full. In my small town the youth fill the churches. There’s not much else to do other than hang out at the McDonald’s.
* Internet is fast, at least where I am. If you move to a place where CenturyLink is a provider ask about their Business DSL. It’s not cheap but it’s fast.
* Business climate: Ok, so far. But I would feel better if I was on the Oklahoma side of the border. Oklahoma is more solidly Republican-controlled. Over time maybe Arkansas will move that way?
* Beauty: Arkansas is a PRETTY STATE. Downright gorgeous... and this is coming from an Okie.
I’ve been thinking of moving back to Oklahoma nearer to Tulsa, or maybe to the mountains of North Carolina (if there weren’t so many libs there!). Can anyone with experience with NE Oklahoma and Arkansas compare the two?
Tulsa very liberal.
Are you in Van Buren or Alma?
