"4 or 5 people on a farm would be easy to overtake by a well disciplined group. Especially if a couple are caught out working in the fields."

And here's a typical example of contemporary, suburbanite discipline.

No problem for the "4 or 5 people on a farm." ;-)

And in the event of economic or wartime disaster, fuel for long drives would most likely be hard to come by. City folks would stay in the cities (see also gridlock, roadblocks, dangers of walking through other neighborhoods, etc.)

There will probably be "civil unrest" in at least some of the cities. But mostly, many people who aren't accustomed to doing much real work (bureaucrats and the like) will find out what it's like to get really poor (re. default ahead).

There won't be any grand, awesome adventure "as seen on TV," IMO. ...only a bond collapse, more widespread poverty and much smaller government ahead (spending, lack of real domestic manufacturing, lack of value in currency from "money printing," and so on).

I’m in the suburbs and I know exactly how I’d take out a farm if I had too. There are many many people in the suburbs with military training.

Of course I’m not the kind of person you’d have to worry about.

Like I said, it depends on what happens. Way too many variables to account for. If I had the money I’d move somewhere more remote. I don’t so I’ll make do and hope for the best. I just don’t think anyone is going to get a free pass.

I hope you’re correct in that its limited to minor unrest. Having lived through several hurricanes I don’t agree. Things can go bad very quickly even with a minor hurricane. Criminals seem to like those times to take advantage of others and lots of people do crazy stuff.

BTW, I watched that video. I can’t believe anyone in their right mind would treat a class III weapon like that. They are way too valuable to intentionally destroy.
