I have 16 Sam’s batteries that are now 14 years old and still doing fine thanks to the desulfators that keep them clean.
I also have a pair of L16s that are the same age, and also doing fine for the same reason.
Check your water 3 times per year minimum.
Thanks. They do gas pretty heavily, sometimes, because of the elevation over 9,000 feet here (less atmosphere overhead, temperature extremes, etc.). Great charging, though.
From the info in your comment, the plates are probably pretty thick when new. That’s great!
I would think the risk of explosions caused by shorts would increase with age and will avoid getting complacent on safety before and during maintenance. I’ll have a look at desulfators, for sure.
