I apreciate and agree with the sentiment and the statement - I disagree with the timing.
The time for making these important statements is during the primary - OR when there is a clear winner in the general election; or, as recently pointed out to me, when the electoral votes of your state are not in question.
Please see my position, from early in the primaries, on reluctantly voting for Romney:

Reality recognizes that your candidacy is a statement - and an important one, but not a viable option for defeating Obama - who, in spite of fits and tantrums to the contrary, is far worse for our country than Romney could every be.

Watch for it, FRiend. There is a bigger game in play. Right up until November, Obama will make dramatic leaps leftward. He has already begun this move. You may not understand it or see it yet, but Obama is shifting far left to accomplish three tasks :
- make Romney appear to be "a conservative" by contrast (thereby redefining "conservatism") when in truth Romney is not even as conservative as John McCain
- energize the far left base for a take-back-the-whitehouse appeal in 2016 (because he expects to lose in 2012) when favors will be called in
- and throw the 2012 election to his liberal republican counterpart (to solidify his tenure as president and permit the ink to dry on the socialist advances he's made while in government)
Obama is going to throw this election as best he is able. By November the pundits will be telling us how damaging Obama's shift has been for his re-election bid. Some will call him crazy, others will call him crazy like a fox. Watch for it. When it happens you'll know this is intentional. And if Romney fails to appeal to the base in any significant way, and his successful presidential bid remains improbable, watch for the DNC to decide Obama is just plain crazy and throw another candidate in (Clinton?) to split the vote. They are attempting to sacrifice the queen in order to win the chess game. Don't take the bait. Forget about the queen and focus on your own pieces and positioning this election. Romney is a liberal, a pawn, and a stealth democrat. If Romney wins, conservatism loses.
