I don’t know why they chose the Treyvon Martin case for exploitation but they did.

Leftists had the power to civilly sue people who shot a thug in self defense. Their prosecutors and judges could use the murkiness of “self defense” to prosecute those who killed in self defense. With the stand your ground law, they don’t have that power to punish concealed carriers for self defense. Like fast and furious, this case is Obama’s effort to regain the power to persecute self defenders outside their homes in the name of race and gun control.

Second, racial voter polarization. The Left is empowered by race hate. The more radical and powerful (violent, racist), the better - they think.

But I think the race power game is a miscaculation. Whites are still the majority and Obama targeted whites for black racist violence. He makes the assumption that Hispanics are like blacks in Left’s thug race hate culture and they are not. His behavior has polarized the Hispanic vote. In addition, George is not white...and I don’t think they realized that George Zimmerman would turn out to be a black, Hispanic, white guy.

The gun control game is risky for Leftists. The public supports self defense and is well educated and organized. Obama poked a tiger with fast and furious and now Trayvon. They are watching this and they are not liking what they see in race baiting injustice. That is why they put stand your ground laws in place.

Another excellent analysis. I think in this case the Left thought the media, the Democrat politicians and the race profiteers could carry the emotion further than turned out to be the case.

Thanks to the internet and citizen journalists, the unreported facts saw light. Good for the City of Sanford for putting th evidence they had on the internet but boo to the State Attorney and the Sanford Chief of Police for running from the case. They let the Left and their hand-maidens, the media and the predatory trial lawyers , scare them off.
