I’m not sure history is a good guide for this cycle.
There seems to be a strong “anti-Washington” sentiment—at least among conservatives. A large part of the electorate feels that Washington is part of the problem, adding a senator or congressman as a veep is not going to help that.
Consider also that while Romney was a governor, he is also viewed as an establishment insider. Jindal (even though he has been active inside the GOP) has been willing to “rock the boat.” Much like Palin, he’s a GOP governor, but can be independent.
Jindal also has conservative religious views, which would balance out Romney’s Mormonism.

Come on, Man! Get real. I’ve lived in Louisiana since the Gov EWE redux. Jindal ain’t rocked the first boat. Gov. Walker is boat rocking; Piyush is just riding, and lying to the American people about how great the economy is in Louisiana.
At the beginning of his first term, the leges voted themselves a pay raise...Jindal wasn’t going to veto it; he was going to “let it ride” into law. We, the people had to raise holy hell to get him to push his Veto Pen.
In 2011, I voted for Tara Hollis, and I still shutter.
