Somewhere near JRandomFreeper’s resturant would be a good place. “You kill it and he’ll grill it!”

We need to decide where Kartographers Gulch will be located.
Speaking of which, I will be doing a reconnaissance mission this summer, driving about 5000 miles about the country looking for good retirement locations. The main goal is a location that could also be a good prepping location, if/when the time comes, and could also be a long-term retirement location. I am looking for someplace where acreage is abundant and inexpensive, ~40 acres or more with a reasonable house for about $350,000. Of course, conservative neighbors are right up there on the list. A red state would be best. But I know that there are many conservative pockets all around the country, so I am not ruling out anything other than deep blue states. Weather an important consideration since I want to be able to heat with wood in the winter and survive without air conditioning in the summer, and be able to grow crops without irrigation. I was thinking middle of the country, latitude wise, to avoid both weather extremes.
These are just some general considerations. I am willing to consider any alternatives, and and even including a drive to Idaho on my trek. A staunchly conservative area might make up for some of the weather/farming problems.
so, if anyone has any input on where they live or where they would like to live that might be a place I could include on my drive, please let me know.
