1. One that argues for a cause; a supporter or defender: an advocate of civil rights.
2. One that pleads in another's behalf; an intercessor: advocates for abused children and spouses.
3. A lawyer.
I think the fundamental error is presuming to know God’s will. He is in total control; if you vote for Romney and he wins, God is in control; if you don’t vote for Romney and he wins, God is in control; if you vote for Romney and he loses, God is in control; if you don’t vote for Romney and he loses, God is in control. Things are moving according to His plan. So, stay home and don’t vote or go to the polls and vote for whomever you like. You will not alter God’s plans either way, although you run some risk in attempting to persuade others to your point of view. Since you quoted Paul, remember also that just before the quote you started this thread with, he said, “So whatever you believe about these things keep them between yourself and God. Blessed are those who do not condemn themselves by what they approve.”
That Advocate does not argue to the Judge the existence or absence of sin. Is God the Father omniscient or is He not? That Advocate says, “Even though...”
