Yep, character does matter, and what we have been hearing in the media recently has been quite shocking. I thought you might like to see another side of one of the candidates. It appears there is more to the Bain Capital story than is being told, so I hope this story below is informative.
Romney's character.... This facet of Romney's personality isn't so subtle.
In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was.
Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay's daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his friend's missing daughter.
Romney's accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could - prostitutes, drug addicts - anyone.
That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a house in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day.
Romney's former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter's life, saying, "It was the most amazing thing, and I'll never forget this to the day I die."
So, here's my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can't help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn't do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that's just how he's wired.
Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar.
When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and would not use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.
Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!) http://www.snopes.com/politics/romney/search.asp
Where's the girl?
This story has been posted before, and if you go back to the original story in the Boston Globe, this version is HIGHLY exaggerated.
Revisionist history is a great tool.
Romney’s commercial about this is highly effective.
Yes, most everyone has seen the ad. However, I think it is important to show that even SNOPES says it is true. What has Obama ever done????????
A quote from the last paragraph of the article
The Daily went to the home of Melissa Gay Lewis in Danbury, Conn., where she is a fourth-grade teacher and lives with her husband and young children just a couple miles from the Ridgefield house she once ran away from. She refused to comment. In 2008, Lewis and her husband each donated $2,300 to Romneys presidential run. So far, they havent donated to Romneys second White House bid.
In a more general sense guess it shows it can be beneficial to have the resources of a big rich company when you need help.
Propaganda.
And, sought to discriminate against the Boy Scouts because they wouldn't allow homosexuals in their ranks.
It's a joke to say a politician that lies and flip-flops as much as Romney does has any character at all. His ruthless lies against his primary opponents are also evidence of his lack of character.
Time to ditch Romney and bring back Newt, Santorum or anyone else with Conservative credentials.
Now’s the time folks.

Romney said he would take a salary if the 2002 Olympics made a profit, it did. (After $600 million input of tax payers money) He took the salary and donated to charity, he did not refuse to accept the salary.
Romney did take a salary as governor, and donated the salary to charity, he did not refuse to accept the salary.
This one time effort for a powerful, wealthy fellow Mormon leader and executive has never been done again by Mormon Bishop Romney, it was Mormon insider stuff by the elites, way over the top for a teen girl that went to a rave and stayed with her friends for a couple of days, like so much related to Romney, this reveals a darker, single minded devotion to the Mormon cult, he has no pleasant stories, that are outside of his Mormon tribe.
Mormon Bishop, Robert Gay, the Bain executive is at the top among Mormon leaders, On March 31, 2012, he became a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
“But several acquaintances of the teen who knew her well at the time and have not spoken publicly before told The Daily a different story: one of a rebellious adolescent in a moment of high-spirited escapism who hid from her parents in relative safety in an upscale New Jersey town.
And they credited the group of new friends she made during her disappearance, including a boyfriend, as the ones who ultimately encouraged Melissa Gay daughter of Romneys colleague at private equity firm Bain Capital to head home to her panicked family.”
Did Mitt Romney save this girl? No, said Doug Becker, the then-boyfriend and now a 32-year-old pastor in the same town of Rockaway, N.J. But I do think what spurred her going home was the kind of coverage it was getting, and I think [Romney] was pretty responsible for that.
“Another childhood friend, speaking anonymously, was more blunt. I think the ad is incredibly misleading. Dishonest is the word for it, the friend said. She wasnt saved, she ran away to go to a rave, and got lost and wound up in New Jersey. She paged a friend to come get her.
You really are a bigoted hater aren’t you? Not one word you wrote said Romney did a single thing wrong. But somehow you railed about his religion because he helped someone search for a missing child?
I think you are projecting, read your hateful post again.
Romney did nothing except over react in a hugely extravagant manner for a fellow elite member of his private club in a routine event, a teen girl staying a couple of days with her boyfriend before returning home embarased.
As routine as that is, of the thousands of non-Mormon, non rich, employees of Romney’s who have had to endure much worse, more serious runaway events and drugs, prostitution and such, did Romney ever so much as lift a finger, or make a phone call, of course not.
Explain why Romney would so dramatically exploit this and turn it into something that it wasn’t, his making of a fictional video drama was shameful.
Are you on drugs? No, you are just a bigot. And interestingly enough, your bigotry extends to the rich. Very unconservative.
Last time I checked there is no harm in doing a favor for a mormon, even a rich one.
Btw I do know of cases in which Romney aided poor non-mormons.
When?
When he gave money and helped out the poor black lady who said God told her to seek him out for help.
Do you seriously believe tnis man never helped a non mormon in his life?
Do the olympics count? Saved them for free, lots of very nonmormon people involved.
Saved the Olympics for free....No he said he would not take a salary if they did not make a profit. It did so he took a salary, then donated to charity.
Saved the Olympics for free....No, the tax payers had to put up $600 million to save it for free.
Now don’t be all defensive I said was ‘when’, and you gave me an example, no reason to get all wiggly about it.
Do I beleive that Romney only helps mormons, no, I would venture to say, mostly.
Ok. However I certainly think giving a salary to charity counts as helping people. Nor do I fault him for aiding his own church. I don’t believe mormonism but unlike some here I generally view mormons as very decent people.
