That is why his widow should ask for a second opinion. She has that right under the law. The negative side is that she would probably have to pay out of pocket for a second autopsy

When my MIL died, Hubby and I paid for an autopsy because she had an artificial valve, and we wanted to know if its failure caused her death.
It cost $2000.
We found out it was her own valve's failing that killed her, and we asked them to send the heart valve company the information as well for their database because they did give us an extra ten years with her.
She didn't really have to die, but that is a very long story about an incompetent doctor, or perhaps a precursor-to-zer0care doctor. She was only 67.
