As far as I know every rental or home insurance policy I have ever had excluded firearms. You had to add a rider for them.
Of course that was for the property value and wouldn’t include the ammunition.

I just had my Cannon T-54 Dbl Door Gunsafe, extensive weapons, accessories, ammo appraised for *replacement value* on Monday by an FFL, and I was stunned. I sent a copy of the written appraisal into my ins co for an estimate on a rider, since the 2½-ton safe/contents are now at my home and weren't covered by by the original homeowner's policy. I'll be sitting down when I get their quote.
