Interestingly, though shot a mere block from his home, he was apparently unidentified for three days in the morgue, as his parents did not report him missing.

Not exactly. His father was not home at the time of the shooting. He returned later, tried to call Trayvon and got no answer, which he thought was a little surprising, but wasn't worried. He fell asleep and was scared when he woke up and Trayvon was still not there, so he called the police. They came over to the house to see a picture, and identified him then. The next morning - not three days. Here is the dad's story.
