I agree with you, in regards to Trayvon. But I’ve learned, when dealing with people who are an unknown quantity, as George would have considered Trayvon, the best way to deal with him is inform him, from a distance that the cops were on their way and that you’re only there to observe and nothing more.

I agree with that. We know from the account of Martin’s girlfriend that it was Martin who initiated the conversation with Zimmerman, and the best way to deal with people who are an unknown quantity, as Trayvon would have considered George, is probably to walk that last 70 feet to your house.

I suspect - and it is only speculation - that Zimmerman was walking down the path trying to spot Martin again. Martin decided to confront him (maybe because at that point he was going to have to walk past him to get home,) asking “Why are you following me?” Zimmerman replied “What are you doing here?”

We don’t know what happened after that. But I think we can conclude that neither one told the other who he was or why he was there, and that’s the real tragedy. Two guys, both described by friends as good, friendly, decent people, neither one breaking the law, standing face to face talking.

Why the hell didn’t they just keep talking?
