BUT I still would ask to see more to convince me he didn't arrive in the US until 1963. He was class of 1966 and to complete the usual 4 years of high school, he would have commenced in 1962.

My impression from the story was that he started as a sophomore, rather than as a freshman, so he didn't need to do four years of high school. At 19, maybe they felt he was alreay beyond the freshman level, but didn't test high enough to be in another class??

And my impression is that it’s very very important to assume he arrived in the US in 1963, not in 1962, because where would the kenyan have found the money to pay for his brother’s trip...how did he find $300? Did he suddenly come into money? In 1962...if he had a spare three hundred dollars, where did that come from?
And if Mboya and the AASF was involved, why didn’t they pay the travel expenses for Omar? A private high school education for the young man...but no money for the journey? Doesn’t make sense.
There have been so many lies, I assume it’s safer to assume this is another one.
SomeONE entered the US in 1961. Write it off as a mistake, but babies don’t travel on their own, as another freeper has already pointed out.
I’m NOT saying it was Omar, but I have seen nothing that shows WHEN he arrived.
Have you?

correction: I should have written someONE entered the US from Kenya between July 31, 1961 and June 30, 1962...
