Tea Party Claims First Scalp (Jean Schmidt thrown out in OH)
Redstate.com ^ | 3/7/12 | Daniel Horowitz

Perhaps, the biggest news of the night is outside the confines of the presidential election. In OH-2, Representative Jean Schmidt was defeated in a stunning upset by conservative challenger Brad Wenstrup. She is the first of those who voted for the debt ceiling deal to go down in a primary. This should encourage us to focus our attention on congressional races in the coming weeks. There are primaries in Alabama and Mississippi next week. Several weak incumbents, such as Jo Bonner, Spencer Bachus, and Steve Palazzo, have primary challengers. I’m especially interested in Bachus’s seat. Let the house cleaning begin. We should not leave any stone unturned.

I don’t know anything about this race. Was this good for conservatives?

Well, if the article is correct this person was replaced by a conservative, so I would say yes this was good for us since Schmidt voted for the debt ceiling increase.

Hey, Denny Kookcinich is out of a job too . . . Some lefty Kaptur (female) slammed Denny last night something like 60,000 to 45,000 . . . so the jackass will not be in Congress after all is said and done. Goodbye Kookcinich!

"First Scalp" - Now let's see Conservatives work together on the presidential primary, and make a deal together:

Dunno if they count as "scalps", but I can think of a few other pols that have "declined" to run. Olympia Snowe and Bev Perdue come immediately to mind.

They've made this excuse, or that rationalization...but IMHO the real reason is that they were certain to lose. Pols generally don't "retire" gracefully.

Yeah, I was glad to see the Kook tossed out on his butt. The only downside is that FR will no longer post pics of his gorgeous wife.

I am PROUD to say that I voted for Brad Wenstrup against Jeannie “The Half-Wit” Schmidt. He ran ads mockeing her for practically knocking people over to get to Obama and kiss his cheek during the SOTU address.

The best congresscritter the Turkish government could buy has just been sent packing. None too soon either! Now she can go back to wrapping herself in the American flag and flipping pancakes at nursing homes.

It’s one less congressperson who will vote to raise the debt ceiling. Otherwise, might as well elect a democrat. The republican caucus in the house will be less watered down with her gone.

just imagine what we could do if we ran our own Presidential candidate in the fall and kicked Mitt back to a distant 3rd.

I don't believe this was the Tea Party as much as it was the Campaign for Primary Accountability.

The CPA's purpose, in a nutshell, is to attack by primarying specific districts in order to build conservatism in government from the local to the federal.

I'd say it was good for conservatives.

So she had been in Congress since ‘05. Was she always a half-wit, or did she just become one after hanging around the RINOs for nearly 7 years? Poster child for term limits?

Our only hope now is to keep Romney tied up and deny him the nomination on the first ballot.

Santorum is mathching him vote for vote in the midwest. Newt will will Mississippi and Alabama next week and either Santorum or Gingrich will win Kansas on Saturday. Louisiana is coming up and Gingrich will win there as well. Then there’s Illinois, another industial state, where it will probably come down to a tie again.

If we can deny Romney his nomination on the first ballot, the conservatives will have to be dealt with in a deal one way or another, either with the top of the ticket or the bottom in addition to the planks in the platform and the speakers at the convention. The powers that be would like the convention to be all moderate all the time. Not happening. Not this time.

Hey, Denny Kookcinich is out of a job too . . .

But, what about his Dept of Peace?

I guess I will have to go ahead with my Dept of Rainbows & Unicorns, then.

20% is the critical threshold to receive proportional delegates. If either Santorum or Newt fall below 20% of vote we are significantly hurt.

Let me predict that Denny Kookcinich will be tossed out by his "beautiful wife," since there's no more "free taxpayer money" and the fact that Kookcinich has NO JOB SKILLS WHATSOEVER!. That's no exaggeration! He has not had any kind of a job other than being a political mooch.

I'll bet it's killing him that he'll be unemployed this time next year. If he's smart, he'll invest some of that "under the table" money he's gotten over the years and quit bothering us.
