Strangely, this same webpage that is the subject of this post has a related story about the same alledged forger and the oldest oil lamp ever found which was also in his inventory. Seems that the oil lamp has been authenticated and is not a forgery.
There are lots of vested interests in Israel archeology and consequent potential for political ‘findings’ on questions about archeological discoveries such as the James ossuwary and the Talpiot tomb(s).
Definitely. BAR’s major complaint about the original research report (and wow, that was seven or eight years ago I think) is that it ignored the hard scientific findings which were either emphatically in favor of authenticity, or didn’t support forgery (depending on the finding).
