I distinctly remember my 8th grade French teacher asking over and over again: “In Europe they pay x per liter of gas, why should WE pay less?”

This thinking has been bubbling up from the rank and file marxists for quite some time. It reached the top in 2008 apparently.

I had a liberal democrat manager in my old job remark that prices like gas and basic staples should be much higher. He mentioned that we should be paying environmental cost as well.
