I’m amazed by the number of long-standing, active Republicans who are totally ignorant of their party’s history as it relates to Blacks

.... in Texas, if you want to make liberal Austinite heads explode, show them the picture of the founders of the Texas GOP... ALL of them BLACK Texans - a great group shot of the early legislators, probably unknown by a majority of Tx repubs. Wish I could post the photo from a flyer available at Party HQ...

  One, one page 61 shows an 1872 print by Currier and Ives illustrating the first seven black Americans elected to the U.S. Congress - all were Republicans. image

I’d read about them. The most telling thing about them is that they didn’t refer to themselves as the “BLACK Texas Republican Party.” They called themselves simply the “Texas Republican Party.” BHO coulda’ learned something from that.
