Well....if the article describes them as a military attack, then we don't have to worry about the other stuff. Coordinated Cyber attacks, infrastructure attacks, financial, leadership, et al are less immediately overt. My guess is Obama's government would be figuring out first and foremost how to get his constituents their EBT 'charge-ups' to do anything substantive in the way of retaliation.

The article of the post referencs another article, titled “How Iran could Win a War against Israel and the United States in One Hour.” In that article, it describes attacks by sleeper cells such as shooting children, running school buses full of kids off cliffs, and driving a gasoline tanker into a crowded grocery store to detonate a bomb. Bad times if those things happened for sure, but hardly the stuff to “defeat” this country.

First, I don’t think it possible in this environment to surprise Israel. They’ve already been surprised badly (in 1973), and like Pearl Harbor for us, it serves as an eternal reminder of the cost of a lack of vigilence.

However, in the event that, with surprise or not, there were to be a severe attack on Israel (i.e. nuclear, chemical or biological), then I think it is only common sense that a badly wounded Israel will strike out with all of its fury. When that fury includes several hundred nukes, I daresay that no hostile power within 1000 miles will continue to have anything approaching a viable society.

As for the US, whether we are surprised or not will depend entirely upon the POTUS and his orders. Our military, left to its own devices, would be highly unlikely to be surprised, but this particular POTUS, cheese-eating surrender monkey that he is, could conceivably order the military to stand down to avoid a conflict - especially if he wants to have large military casualties on our side. Frankly, so many of his decisions have been so off the walls bad that they cannot be the result of sheer stupidity, they must be by design. As such, we could be surprised.

If the surprise is of the EMP variety, we could basically cease to exist as a viable society within a year, depending upon how effective the attack is. That Iran or any other nations attacking us would be nuked into the Stone Age would be of cold comfort to the tens or hundreds of millions that would starve or freeze to death, die of disease or lack of treatment, or die in civil unrest of various types. That is the ONLY scenario in which we could lose to a nation like Iran. Not so WRT Russia or China, but we’re not asleep at the switch regarding them.

If, OTOH, the attack were to be (for example) a nuke over Norfolk or DC or NYC, plus dozens/hundreds of individual terrorist attacks nationwide, I’d not give Iran or any of its allies more than a few days (depending upon our response time) to survive. If the POTUS refused to take action in that kind of environment, I could seriously forsee either impeachment or a coup, followed by the most devastating attack ever seen in history.

You’d need a bomb that was about a megaton and a fusion bomb at that. And another issue...exploding it on the nightside verses the day side since the energy from the sun pushes the bulk of the magnetic field to the night side. (think like the tail of a comet) You get more bang for your buck on the night side.

Not even close, early tests in the SW were seen in Hawaii before they understood EMP. Fusion has nothing to do with it.

A 1.4 Mt over Kansas would effect the entire US.

Nuclear bombs didn’t hit the megaton range until fusion bombs/hydrogen bombs had been developed. The Hawaii effects were fusion bombs going off from missile launches a hundred miles up. It was also night and it was thousands of miles of ocean all around. Look up “StarFish” Prime, 1962 about the first high altitude(250 miles up) explosions and its emp effects.

It took weapons in the megatonnage range to get the emp effects noted in Hawaii. It wasn’t that emp wasn’t known about before, but it was the first time that folks began to realize the far reaching effects that large megatonnage explosions at optimal altitudes can have on the Earth’s magnetic fields. (Indeed the first movie to explore such a concept was “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”, from which the TV series came from). The concerns about EMP over the US started to grow in the 1980’s when scientists realized that the Earth’s Magnetic field was much stronger over North America related to the proximity of Magnetic North Pole, vs over the Pacific where Starfish Prime was exploded.

A nightside explosion is most feared due to the effect the sun’s rays, own magnetic force, and particles has in pushing the lines of Earth’s magnetic force and concentrating them from the dayside to the darker side. A megaton flash on the dayside might just end up being a distant flash of light (with a lot fewer circuits burned out) related to the totality of the Sun’s energy shining on that side. Of course a solar flare with a huge core mass eruption aimed at us is a whole different kettle of fish, and is hundreds of multiple times the energy of what a single megaton emp weapon would display against us.

It’s the magnetic field’s transmissibility of charged particles that does the damage and over the US the field is 6 times the strength of that which was over Hawaii and those areas effected by Starfish Prime ‘62.

"One hour" is mentioned three times in Revelation 18.

Russia, China, ME nations, See: Jeremiah 50:41-46. 'At the sound of Babel's capture the earth shall be shaken, (nukes) and the outcry shall be heard among the nations.' 46

Tick tock...

First, the power of the different EMP waves is not related to the power of the explosion. Point of fact: pure fission weapons can actually produce more powerful EMP effects, and that’s without special tuning to maximize EMP.

Second, read this article: http://survivalblog.com/2012/02/400-chernobyls-solar-flares-emp-and-nuclear-armageddon-by-matthew-stein-pe.html

EMP isn’t a joke, and it could have incredibly devastating effects because of the nature of our electrical grid, and the interdependence of various systems on the electrical grid and each other. We ignore the catastrophic potential of EMP at the peril of our civilization.

Our forces are not allowed to succeed. See Afghanistan and the UN/NATO rules of engagement.

The fact that Hillary is petitioning the UN to use force in Iran, is very telling, and shows none of our government is responsible to the American people.

Location...location...location... it’s all about location and whether or not one can precisely trigger the force needed at the time needed at the place needed where the magnetic flux densities are optimal.

I dont’ see the subject as a joke as quite a bit of local damage could be done to cities and neighbor hoods with smaller devices but being able to reliably detonate one device that can bring about a massive continental kill of all electrical devices on the continent, all at once, is a whole other issue. There are surface curvature, atmospheric and magnetic lensing effects to consider...proximities to mountains and other local magnetic abnomalies that may limit the effects. You’d have to fire off several optimally placed equidistant weapons all at once to get the “continental kill effects” folks are speaking of. And those “optimal points” are in constant flux due to the constantly changing magnetic lines of force. You’d have to have a big enough bang to do it and I suspect a dayside explosion would be less effective because of the sun’s thinning effects on the Earth’s magnetic field over the day side. It is the magnetic field which when oversaturated with radiation and charged particles from a nuke which concentrates and sends that energy pulse earthward and this would be most pronounced on the nightside.

As for hypothesized future “killer CME’s and solar flares”....you are talking about energies and charged particles far in excess of multiples of high yield nukes in terms of energy and much of the earth’s infrastructure would be damaged, no matter where you were.
