Appearing on FNC's Happening Now this morning, former House Majority Leader and Chairman of FreedomWorks Dick Armey was asked to comment on reports that the Tea Party Movement has not been involved in the GOP primary process and may in fact be dead. As an influential voice in the movement, Mr. Armey explained that tea party activists have been working on reinforcing the conservative majority in the House and capturing a conservative majority in the Senate while the media has been focused only on presidential politics. But he also said the grassroots movement could have a very real role in choosing the eventual presidential nominee once the primary process is complete.

Car payment?

Pimp a blog on FR, things will get better.

By the way - have you ever posted on a thread that wasn’t attached to ~your~ blog?

they must be allowed to push their own blogs.

Seems as though most teapartiers are not interested in becoming delegates to the Convention. So it is tough to see how the eventual delegates will evolve into teapartiers.

If a state has precinct caucuses to elect people to county convention to elect people to the state convention ... to elect the national delegates ... you’d think getting elected to the county convention would be of interest.

Then again, the ronPaulistas are doing it and they consider themselves to be the real teaparty.

About time the Tea Party is recognized and takes power—As they said on Dallas—”no one gives you power—power is something you must take.” I would love to see a dark horse come out of the convention—Make it a real convention and not a rubber stamp.

A brokered convention is putting the cart before the horse. We still have a long way to go and lots of dust has yet to settle before these questions should be addressed.

From what I read, I think that the Tea Party is focusing on the right areas by targetting the House and Senate. In many respects, that’s where the action is because the POTUS is more a figurehead than absolute leader. The REAL work is done in the House and Senate.

Brokered convention or not, the Tea Party is NOT a political party, but it IS the essence of the United States of America.

Delegates to both the State and National Republican Conventions will include large numbers of admitted and stealth Tea Party supporters.

Watch.

Perhaps, if we controlled both the House and the Senate with large majorities but this President has ignored the Constitution when it suited him and no one has stopped him.

Let's start by defining "we". Who are the "we" you are talking about - the GOP, or the Tea Party? At this point, I cannot trust the GOP to be any better than the Dems, so having them in control of both houses of Congress, IMO, is not an improvement. We might just as well have the Dems in control as the GOP.

But, beyond that, there are powers that the Congress gave the POTUS (NOT the Constitution!) that presidents from BOTH parties have abused. The Executive Order comes to mind. Since being granted the power of the EO, presidents from both the left and the right have abused the authority and it should be repealed and abolished.

IMO, all 3 branches of government need to be reset to the limits granted by the Constitution in order to begin restoring our government to what the Founding Fathers initially envisioned and immortalized in the Constitution. I simply don't trust politicians, regardless of party affiliation, religion, creed or anything else, to resist power grabs and exceeding their authority. Human nature, being what it is, drives most of us to take a mile when offered an inch. Therein lies the justifiation for a massive overhaul of the federal government that includes STRICT term limits for ALL elected positions!! NOTHING short of that is acceptable!!

To me, that is who "we" is.
