All Newt has said is he wants to debate Obama on his record, on ideology and force Obama to DEFEND his political views... We all know the man-boy in chief will never agree to a lincoln douglas debate with Newt, but if Newt does (and I assume will) take the ideological battle to Obama, and actually debate political ideology vs tit for tat sound bites, Obama will be lambasted.

The guy can’t think on his feet, can’t articulate his stands, has a record worse than anyone who’s held the office in the past 40 years or more.

I think a lot of this article is spot on. Newt has repeatedly bragged that he is the guy to take Obama on and the only real credentials he’s giving is his debate skills.

So yes, expectations are being piled a mile high and that will eventually be a problem. Just like it was for me last night. After Monday’s debate I tuned in for the knockout punch and was totally unimpressed with Newt. I thought his first answer was unnecessarily drawn out, should have left off with first sentence. And he could have even used humor to diffuse it such as “Oh, I must have gone in the wrong door, was looking for the Presidential debate not Oprah”. Instead he appeared angry and nearly unhinged. The public doesn’t like angry politicians on the whole and I’m not sure that’s the best approach.

At any rate the rest of the night he was so so. Rick Santorum scored some hits and Newt skirted the issues with his answers.

I know I’m going to get creamed by Newt fans but now is the time to discuss it, not after the nomination. So bring it on :-)
