Of course it’s a Myth (what an appropriate way to put it!).

Fact is, since it’s no contest, zer() won’t even show up, if it’s Newt. But, if it’s Myth... zer() will push for a daily debate.

Well it’s looking like Newt or Mitt and a debate between Mitt and Obama will be Obama saying what he believes and Mitt saying “I agree.”

I choose Newt.

—Nary has an opportunity passed when Newt fails to, in his typically egomaniacal style and with great bombast, assure us that all will be right with the world once Obama is forced to take him on in the ultimate battle of the brains. —

I’ve heard others assert this, but never Newt himself.

Don’t believe your lying eyes and ears!

Newt is just horrible at debating

Obama would love to debate him, he is just that bad.

And I think Ziegler becomes a master-debater when he thinks of Obama too.

Has anyone ever heard Newt Gingrich, “in his typically egomaniacal style and with great bombast”, state assurances that he could right everything wrong in the world by debating BHO2?

I certainly have not heard anything like that at any time.
On Free Republic, I’ve read others claim this for Newt, but haven’t seen or heard any claims for this from the man himself.

First of all, there is absolutely zero chance that Obama would agree to the debate format which Newt pretends he could somehow force the sitting president to accept

Since I've been saying this myself for weeks, I have to agree.

The Boy King will only accept "townhall" forums, dontcha know. And probably only one at that.

Methinks Mr. Zeigler has been drinking too much of the establishment/elite/RINO kool-aid. His article is full of false claims.

No thanks.

Methinks the author of this article has greatly overestimated the intellectual capacity and debating skills of the Idiot-in-Chief ... providing, of course, that he can't bring his teleprompter to the debate.

What a Clinton-esque guy!! It’s so horrible how Gingrich deflected the swinging question in last nights debate!

And holding up his daughters to deflect the question, too!

.........BAD!!! really bad...

One of Newt’s great moments was when he said if Obama wins re-election he will kick his destruction of this country into high gear. Of course, we already know that but it was good to hear one of the candidates say it and they cannot say it enough.

What’s the matter Ziegler? Did Gingrich ignore unsolicited advice from you, so you feel the need to unload?

I still shake my head at the idea of Obama as an intellectual, a fabulous orator, a great debater,,, etc. I just don’t see it. He was popular because he was a black metrosexual urban type,,,, thats it, period.

0bamma would have to be out of his mind to agree to a debate against Newt. However Newt if he stayed on point could get mileage out of his refusal.

However it is important to have someone who can articulate conservatism. Bush either couldn’t or didn’t want to and look where that got us.

Memo to Zeigler: Have you ever heard Barry speak without benefit of TOTUS? Newt Gingrich will eviscerate Obama in any debate. It won’t even be close. Better than debating Newt will criticize, ridicule and challenge Barry every day until election day. Thats the difference between Newt and Mitt.

Yeah, I should really listen to a pinhead who said this in another blog dropping:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/01/the_six_dirty_secrets_of_presidential_politics_in_2012.html

The reason why Romney is indeed the most electable Republican left is because he makes the race more of a pure referendum on Obama than any of the others (though not as much as a Tim Pawlenty would have).

It’s probably just a personality clash with me, but I cannot stand to listen to newt. He’s like fingers on a chalkboard to me. I find myself thinking “WHATEVER” after he gets 5 words out of his mouth. The guy is truly irritating(to me). I can’t make myself believe he is telling the truth about anything. I have no idea if he affects other people like this. If he does, he will not be a good choice to run against obama.

I think Mr Ziegler writes down some of his grandiose thoughts for others to read.

Conservatives should be warned about what they are getting themselves in for if Newt is the nominee. Debate nights might be fun, but the hangover will last for at least four years

Newt can't beat obama. Republicans make up about 35% of the electorate. We need independents and some democrats to win. Newt will get none of that support and he'll really struggle to maintain support from female Republicans. If Newt's the nominee the gender gap will be tremendous. This is shaping up to be a disaster.

It appears that Gingrich's entire argument for the nomination is that he is the guy we want in a nationally televised verbal brawl with the media's all-time favorite candidate.

John Ziegler certainly knows something about verbal brawls. Surf over here to see why.

This is Ziegler:

The early demise of the Pawlenty campaign tells you everything you need to know about how this delusion/ignorance regarding political realities is stunting the Republican nominating process in a way Obama should only be able to dream about. Pawlenty was the one candidate who clearly would have made the election an unambiguous referendum on Obama... Pawlenty's campaign was doomed by some of the very qualities which made it so attractive to those who understand how a national presidential election works in the modern age. He was seen as "boring" by a Republican electorate that is clearly looking to be highly stimulated. But in his case 'boring" also meant "electable."

Brilliant, that guy is. Brilliant.
