Some people believe the establishment hype about not throwing their vote away. You can’t get them to understand the purpose of the primary is to vote your conscience and there is no “throwing away” of your vote unless you vote for the guy someone else tells you to vote for!

Just stick to your guns. The media and even some republican (progressives) are trying to send the tea party back into the shadows (of course the Dems are a given). This is a concerted effort by both parties to shut us up. Don’t fall for it! Remember all the fake tea party candidates that surfaced in 2010? What made you think this wouldn’t happen again? Just decide for yourself who is a real tea party supporter and dismiss everyone else.

It’s bad enough to hold your nose in the general, but to have to do it in the primaries....yuck!

The Tea Party lost a lot of momentum and interest when Sarah decided not to run. Then it lost more when the MSM kneecapped Cain.

Perry had his chance, and might have been a source of excitement, but his debate performances made him look dumber than a box of hammers.

Now? With the possible exception of Santorum, the rest of the candidorks just don’t seem to get people excited.

There is no “Tea Party.” There are Tea Parties, all local and independently run. If you mean Tea Party groups like Tea Party Nation, et al, then you might have a point.

I’d say “missed the boat” is more accurate. After all of the momentum they gained in 2010, they needed to come out with a common voice in 2011 to support a consensus conservative candidate. They were never able to do this and they’ve essentially, barring a miracle, conceded the race to the establishment choice - Romney. Whether they can regain their momentum to influence some of the 2012 congressional races remains to be seen, but they’ve clearly missed a golden opportunity to solidify their influence on the American political scene.

Don't over emphasize the debates. GWB didn't fare much better in his debates and he was still able to win 2 terms as POTUS.

Whenever Texas gets to vote, which is still undetermined, it is being rigged so the 155 Texas delegates have no effect on the outcome. Even Florida’s paltry 50 delegates should suffice to end this thing, they are telling us.

The Tea Party will be working to elect suitable candidates to all offices around the country. As for the presidential race, our candidate, Sarah Palin decided not to run. If she can be talked into running, it’ll become a whole new ballgame in that respect. We’re trying.

This commentary by Matthew Burke lauds Ron Paul but ends up favoring Rick Perry. The author makes some good points. For me, Ron Paul is a non-starter but Rick Perry is still a possible winner, although, as Burke points out, his chances are slim. The problem confronting conservatives is that, as Burke explains, every candidate calls themself a 'conservative', no matter what their actual record shows. The MSM refer to Mitt Romney - of all people - as a 'conservative. I suppose he is, next to Harry Reid.

This next debate will be crucial in weeding out candidates and I hope Rick Perry can avoid looking foolish because that is a bum rap. However, it's on him to break out, we can only vote for what we consider the candidate that best reflects our political/cultural views. It sure isn't Romney but Santorum and Gingrich are hardly hard-core conservatives, either. Perry has a shot - but it's up to him to take it. If he continues to stumble, many Tea Party votes will have to look elsewhere.
