While I notice I often get slammed for simplistic statements of American exceptionalism there is a difference here. It is all the police and law enforcement in this country that actually believe in their job. The good the decent amongst the people who enforce the law die trying to do what is right on both sides of the border there are good honest Mexicans but the fatality rate is higher for the good honest man down there. The difference being that corruption while widespread is not total on the USA side, people still have some faith in the police and government outside the ghettos. The gangster and the outlaw may be mythic figures in both countries but here the good guys are respected even more and not betrayed on a wholesale basis. The law enforcement agencies can actually sometimes mount operations here without having their actions reported ahead of time to the criminals. Yeah, I know there are many instances where corruption and incompetence occur on our side and our police trample our rights, but enough people believe in this country that things can work. There are those in America and Mexico who place their country above themselves but somehow the right person seems to step up on this side of the border and like Elliot Ness their faith makes them untouchable. The major thing to worry about is the creation of more massive ghettos with illegals to spread corruption like a cancer. This country is greater then our ghettos and our outlaws.
