Have you been listening to Rush??? Mitt is already shooting himself in the foot by making the comparison between Bain Capital and what Obama did in the auto industry. By the time that November rolls around, Mitt will be as low in the polls as McCain was and Sarah Palin won’t be of any help this time, either. I’ve lost faith in her, completely.

Has any candidate ever won NH but not gotten the nomination?

Absolutely. Senator Paul Tsongas won the (Democrat) NH primary in 1992, but Bill Clinton got the nomination. Pat Buchanan won the Republican primary in 1996, but Bob Dole got the nomination.

I'm not sure that's comforting. The point is that the race is not anywhere near over - especially this year.

I realize that SC is the key to the nomination historically. Let’s see what happens, I don’t want to be too hasty, but things are looking like they are looking :(

Yes, it could, and hopefully it does.

There is no "too late" about it. Romney is the candidate of the Republican Party. It takes a Reagan working through at least a couple of election cycles to derail the Republican Elite and their Socialist establishment candidates. Reagans happen maybe twice in a millenium. We had ours.Another party would be necessary were there time. There is not time. The US has crossed the line toward totalitarianization some time between Bush 1 and Bush 2 and there is no going back. The totalitarian structures are all in place in the Laws that our Congress has passed and Republican and Democrat presidents have signed. The Tea Party congress was just as eager to turn over total power to the executive as the Democrats. When the Patriot Act was passed I immediately thought, great! but the Democrats will be in control with this power sooner or later. Then what? Now the Republicans are giving these powers to the executive. The USSC may disallow them but would a congress that would pass such a law and a president who would sign it pay any attention to the USSC? The Constitution is a dead letter.

It was too late a year ago.

Wake up.

McRomney cannot beat the kenyan. Were he to beat him then we would have a socialist president with a Republican label who would get a lot of things through the Republican Congress that the kenyan could not. Better the kenyan stays for four more years. Actually it is irrelevant. Both men are totalitarians and the elected Tea Party Congressmen seem strongly inclined in that direction also. Once these fellows are elected they don’t need the voters any more. Their constituency is the lobbyists and other money people. They get pensions and private enrichment such that it is more profitable for them to play the game and lose their seats after one term than to work for the voters.

Why try to stop it?

For Romney to be coronated, Obama must be defrocked.

Mitt is worse than the kenyan and can’t win anyway because there are too many of us who will not vote for a socialist just because he has a Republican tag or can’t vote for a pro abort at all. Romney and Obama are bound in same direction. It is only a matter of which will proceed faster and that is definitely arguable.

You are probably right but I am not ready to give up the fight yet.

Get it. But where is your strategy for how to beat him?

I don’t even think we could beat him in SC with Paul in the race. So I think the only way to decoronate Romney is to have one conservative come in 2nd, beating Paul.

Unless SC republicans turn out for Romney in smaller %s than polled to date, with Paul in, even if we herd cats and get every conservative in the state to vote for one guy, Romney wins SC.

And there is no reason for Paul to drop out. Plenty of money and time.

Buuut we should try herding cats. If everyone in SC, all you conservatives, voted for the same guy, he could beat ron Paul and come in 2nd. This will give our guy the mo he needs for FL, as well as showing Paul up as a spoiler candidate. Paul can be pointed out to be a vote for Romney and Obama.

Well, SC Freepers? Do you think you could all go for the same guy?

I was talking about his coronation as GOP nominee, not as President.

Didn’t read since so long but only one thing to say. We should all feel proud of Newt that he may be sacrificing his chances by taking Romney out. What a sacrifice since most feel Newt no longer a has chance. Sad, but few real Americans left.

The strategy is obvious as you clearly stated in our response. We need to coalesce around one candidate. Mitt will lose in a head to head against any candidate other than Ron Paul so we just need to pick a candidate. I prefer Newt to Rick Santorum but I will take Rick over Mitt seven days a week and twice on sunday.

Sarah has become a rather timid pundit. She started out in life wanting to be a talking head. I had high hopes for her.

I fear there is a solid % of people who don’t listen to a word mitt says but think he loooks presidential. Otherwise I don’t get his appeal in SC.

I’m afraid that Sarah Palin has hopes of being tapped as Mitt Romney’s VP.

Better the kenyan stays for four more years.

I disagree, but we'll see. Nothing would be worse than Obama getting re-elected.

Have you been listening to Rush?

No, I do my own thinking, thank you.

I have no idea why so many people take his word as gospel. He is reading all the same things we are reading, and he shares his opinion on the radio. But it's just one guy's opinion.

And we have a long way to go.

Most of us don’t take his word as Gospel. We like Rush because he so often articulates exactly what we have been thinking. It’s so good to hear your own thoughts articulated on the air, where such a large audience will hear them.

The best part is that Rush often connects the dots that stump the rest of us.
