I understand his heart for her, but is this a winning campaign speech?

My guess from inconsistent watching of the campaigns is that Santorum’s surge resulted from his outstanding one-to-one rapport with the voters. Perry is the better speaker. But I think Iowans might be one-to-one kind of people and Santorum very likable in that kind of setting.
This strength will diminish as the electorate gets wider, in the states where there are many more voters in the primary than there were in the caucuses and of course nationally.
He wasn’t talking about his dead child (son, Gabriel) tonight, he was talking about his disabled daughter, Isabella.

He wasn’t talking about the baby girl who died, he was referring to their 3 year-old at home who has a disability.
