Christie Warns he'll return "Jersey Style" if Iowans don't vote Romney (WTF?)
The Ticket via Yahoo News ^ | 12-30-2011 | Holly Bailey

Playing off his persona as a New Jersey tough guy, Christie issued a mock warning.

"New Jersey's watching you … We're watching you real closely," he said. "And I want to tell you something. I want to tell you something really clearly. I'm in a good mood this morning. I'm feeling happy and upbeat. I'm happy to be with Mitt and Ann. But let me tell ya, if you people disappoint me Tuesday, if you don't do what you're supposed to do on Tuesday for Mitt Romney. I will be back, Jersey-style."

Very true! I still have issues with the fact he wanted to close race tracks which would have meant even more job losses in my state. These comments he has made make NJ look bad & he is a big mouth who is a disgrace.

I will be back, Jersey-style.

Which means he'll be returning in an '87 Camaro with a head full of Aqua Net and Slippery When Wet cranking on the tape deck. God help Iowa.

You can’t be serious; he’s playing up to what he has been portrayed as in the NJ media since he dared to take on the teachers’ cartels in NJ (and won).

He’s not perfect, but Christie’s better than most of the Republican slate so far, and is probably the only reason NJ doesn’t look like Detroit right now. Oh, and he has a sense of humor, too.

“I don’t see what he has done here in NJ, its worse then ever.”

He has capped our property taxes, which had literally been increasing $400-$500 per year while the towns ran to sh!t, while ending the “state aid” to make up the municipal shortfalls as had been done in the past (which just increased the state’s debt). This in turn has forced towns to cut spending; do you think the mass layoffs would have happened under a Dem in NJ? Who do you think was paying for the police forces and schools of Camden, Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, and Trenton? We were, and now they’ve all been cut back.

“I really have no problem with Christie’s humor here. People need to lighten up”

Who would have ever believed you’d see such pathetic feigned sensitivity on Free Republic?

You can toot his horn. I don’t like the man. I didn’t like Corslime either. And I got sick of having to share other town’s building inspectors. Before I moved our town laid off inspectors & shared them with other towns. It caused mass confusion & put people out of work. I thought the idea was to keep people off welfare? And where I live now almost every day I hear of casinos laying off more people. Where is the big plan to make Atlantic City a great place again & draw in lots of tourist money? And his idea to close the tracks? Well if you were involved in horses as I am you would know just how many people would have lost their farms, businesses & jobs. Thankfully it was able to be worked out. I still am recalling being snowed in while he & our Lieutenant Governor were vacationing. Feel free to like him, I wouldn’t vote for him again. And his comments show he is a clown. Since he is for Mitt it makes me dislike him more. Have a nice night.

You don’t have to like him; as with W I’m just glad he’s there instead of the Dem alternative.

I hope things look up in your area; they’re pretty grim up here, but could be worse. This is the first year my taxes have’t gone up noticeably in the 10+ years I’ve owned my home.

I totally agree with you. But I live dangerously close to Chicago and I don’t trust any of ‘em.

All it takes to be corrupted is to run for office.

Gee, I'm impressed, Fat Boy. What a great thug imitation.

Now buzz off, Christie.

Suppose I should have exempted Chicago and St Louis from my broad Midwestern brush? Funny thing, tho. I lived in Chicago for a year and met THE nicest people ever. But none were pols.

I think Jersey-style means you go mostly by helicopter and then finish the last 200 yards in a limo (snicker)

I never did like or trust Christie. He plays a very confusing game and I don’t trust gamers.

“I’m sure Christie *meant* to be humorous, but seems not to have a grasp on Midwesterners who find nothing funny about the whole NJ/mafia thing and are happy to be 1000 miles away from the Garden State.”

That’s funny, because all those Midwesterners in the audience listening to Christie speak when he said this were smiling and laughing. Christie was a big hit with the crowd. So wishful thinking on your part.

Are you claiming that the audience was representative of Iowans or Midwesterners in general? Or, was it a select crowd that would hoot and holler no matter what Christie or Romney said? Pick your audience and, voila!, amazingly you get the response you want.
