Perry and Santorum may have a chance. We conservatives need to decide which one now.
When you compare experience and accomplishments, the decision is very easy.

***********************************************

Exactly right....If we are going to stop Romney we ALL need to get behind the Governor who is the real conservative with an outstanding record of achievement!

The next President will likely appoint several Supreme Court Justices....I trust Rick Perry to appoint true conservatives!

Here’s why I decided to back Rick Perry:

Rick Perry is the complete conservative package for what ails the country — He will cut regulations, cut litigation, cut taxes, shrink government, support life and 2nd and 10th Amendments, seal the border, support our military and stand with our allies.

And as a former USAF Captain who flew cargo planes all over the world, he appreciates and supports our military and their families.

I don’t trust Romney nor Gingrich to reduce the size of government, repeal ALL of ObamaCare or to govern as a conservative. Perry has demonstrated in Texas that he’s a true conservative and he’s got a real record of job creation, tort reform and smaller government. He’s appointed fellow conservatives who have been effective in improving the TX economy!

And he’s very likeable, hard working and passionately loves America!

“Your stereotypical view of Perry as someone who is unable to put two words together”

Yes, now that he is slowing down and measuring his words slowly, he can actually string a few sentences together. He is a miraculously strong candidate.

Kinda like Ralphie thinking he was getting an A plus when he got a C plus...and like Ralphie sitting on Santa’s lap, speechless......only to go down the slide and then think of the answer....when it’s over.

“oops”

Rick Perry or Rick Santorum...

For me, the difference is fiscal conservatism. I know both Ricks are social conservatives, but Rick Santorum is too big government for me, and Governor Perry is a strong 10th Amendment governor and strong fiscal conservative.

We already have too much big government spending. We need someone like Rick Perry to get us OUT of this mess.

The person who made the long post earlier about Santorum’s behavior in congress made some excellent points.

We cannot ignore the fiscal problems in this country at the expense of supporting a candidate because of social conservatism.

We have to defeat Obamacare and do it now before it is ingrained in our society.

That’s a must.

But we don’t have to decide. Rick Perry is both socially conservative and a person who has vowed to shake up government in Washington.

I believe he will do the things he’s promised. Secure the border and make a start toward getting government out of our lives and out of the lives of business so that we can prosper again.

[But I just want more people to get to know Rick Perry. They’ll like him.]

That IS Perry's biggest problem. The more people learn about him, the more they DON'T like him. Count me is as one of them.

You know as well as I do, (You do have a brain don't you?) that Newt came on very late and lacked the big financing and insider organization that Romney and Paul had.

Newt did not have the money to counter all the lies and hateful ad campaigns they launched against him. (Over 11 million spent, between Romney and Paul, on ads in Iowa over the month of December alone. And all of them negative against Newt.)

You are right about one thing however, there are huge numbers of “undecided” voters still out there for a reason. They want no part of this childish spectacle so far.

The "CONservative" base has become the laughing stock of the entire electorate. They are nothing short of an embarrassment.

And, these hate campaigns and schizophrenic “CONservatives” who keep bouncing from one second tier candidate to another, will favor the steadiest, most intelligent and logical candidate of the bunch. You know, the only one who retains his respect and dignity and refrains from joining this adolescent and juvenile food fight.

Guess who best meets that criteria? Newt Gingrich.

Sorry, I forgot to mention this so I’ll just tag it on here:

I ALSO think Rick Perry has a much better record for trusting he can / will set the environment for job creation in the country, much more than Rick Santorum. While I’m sure Santorum could do much better then Obama, (at least I don’t think he would go out to kill jobs like BHO), he just doesn’t seem to have the experience and consequently insight as to job creation that Governor Perry has had. We KNOW we can trust Governor Perry for that.

As I said in the previous post, I like both Perry and Santorum’s social conservatism. That is VERY important to me. But that is where the comparison stops. This is about all Rick Santorum can offer. Governor Perry also gives the strength of a fiscally conservative platform as well as the experience and knowledge it takes to get jobs back into the lives of Americans.

It’s not just the financial / money / deficit / economic health aspect that I would vote on, but that is what, for me, puts Governor Perry well ahead of what I could expect from Rick Santorum who is just too big government and lobbyist friendly for me.

No, the only one with ADD is you. Since you have trouble reading and comprehending what other people are actually saying or meaning.

Try reading slower first, and frequently search the dictionary for the meaning of words you cannot understand.

At least, now I understand why you keep supporting Perry.

Excellent ‘Racing Form’ summation. You need to post this on every thread you start.

Perry is clearly the class of the field.

You to Altura: “(You do have a brain don’t you?)”

That is total BS and an insult.

She happens to be a very intelligent person who expresses herself quite well. She doesn’t have to throw insults to get her point across unlike you.

Here’s my problem, the more I learn about YOU, the more I don’t like YOU. Your insults toward posters that don’t agree with you puts you in the ZERO column for me.

You have a bitter hatred for Perry and have made it known quite clearly and often as well as insulting Perry Supporters.

You need to stop with the insults.

Romney - One term Governor who created Romneycare as his biggest accomplishment. Supported Wall Street Bailouts and supports mandates. Weak 2nd Amendment Candidate.
BIG GOV Republican Style. NO THANKS

Santorum = Nice Guy. Conservative but is still BIG GOV.
Too many earmarks while in Congress. NO THANKS

Bachman - She is conservative but she was a tax lawyer and she is deceptive. I don’t trust her with the presidency.
NO THANKS

Newt - Supported Wall Street Bailouts and supports mandates. Gop Colleagues gave him the boot. Gingrich and Polosi on the couch ??? Can’t get that out of my head.
He too is Big GOV and is for Amnesty. Weak 2nd Amendment Candidate. He is clever, intellect and a good talker. But in my opinion would not be a good President.
NO THANKS

Perry - Longest serving Governor in TX history. Managed a budget without raising taxes. Rejected Fed $ when the feds were overstepping their authority. Tort Reform. Has fought against obama and epa for 3 years. Strong 10th Amendment candidate. Strong 2nd Amendment Candidate. Created an environment in TX that has become a job producing machine and thriving economy all during an obama recession.

If you want “a Shining City on the Hill” - then you need to vote for Rick Perry.

Although when the primaries get to Ohio , maybe one of them won’t be listed ?
It’s a wait and see for me personally.

The Liberal News-Media (now joined by their The Usual E-RINO Suspects) will suffer an "epic fail" ...

as they DESPERATELY try to force a "faux disqualification" for Newt Gingrich in the upcoming Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire Primary.

I'm confident that Newt Gingrich will "decimate" Mitt Romney and Dr. Winkie (Ron Paul) in South Carolina and Florida ...

======================================

How many successful POTUS candidates have ever won the Iowa Caucus ?

In the last thirty-two (32) years ... only ONE Democrat (Obama in 2008) and ONE Republican (Bush-43 in 2000) have won BOTH the Iowa Caucus and the Presidential Election ...

Of course, that doesn't include "sitting" Presidents (Reagan, Clinton) who won Iowas on their way to a second term election ...

That presents odds of TWO (2) Iowa Caucus wins out of SIXTEEN (16) possible Presidential Election Candidates !

Equivalent to a Whopping twelve-point-five (12.5) percent success rate ...

How many successful POTUS candidates have ever won the New Hampshire Primary ?

In the last thirty-two (32) years ... only ONE Democrat (Carter in 1976) and TWO Republicans (Reagan-1980 and Bush-41 in 1988) have won BOTH the New Hampshire Primary and the Presidential Election ...

Of course, that doesn't include "sitting" Presidents (Reagan, Clinton) who won New Hampshire on their way to a second term election ...

That presents odds of THREE (3) New Hampshire wins out of FIFTEEN (15) possible Presidential Election Candidates !

Equivalent to a Whopping thirteen-three-three (13.33) percent success rate ...

You're welcome ... the idea for this post occurred to me last night ...

Even I was SHOCKED to discover (as a seasoned political-junkie) that Iowa and New Hampshire are basically irrelevant ...

And "thanks" to Wikaepedia for having the information ...

teg 76: Rick Perry is a sanctuary city loving doofus...

John Valentine: This is the single most ignorant statement I have seen on Free Republic in months. And that’s saying something.

Me [to John Valentine]: You might also consider that it wasn’t ignorant at all. Rather, it may be a malicious slur, with plenty of knowledge of its falsity.

Hmmm...if that’s the case, what does that make ole’ teg 76?
