I only argue about this on threads where believers are bashing particular athiests... which they do constantly, because they absolutely cannot STAND anyone who simply refuses to buy their nonsense. Threads where believers are arguing with one another about the minutae of their systems are amusing, but I tend to stay off of them.

But as for keeping quiet completely (like liberals want conservatives to do), no, I won't. Silence implies consent, and I do not consent.

Lady, you'll have to pardon me for saying this, but you're loony tunes.

Does the concept of a pro-God forum not compute? What, exactly, is the point of ridiculing (and that's the content of most of your posts on this thread if you don't count the condescension) believers on a pro-God forum - a private forum in which you are a guest?

May I humbly suggest that a smart person like you start her own atheist conservative forum where you can ridicule believers along with other like minded souls without insulting the host or running afoul of the parameters of the forum?

And before you jump to the conclusion that I'm a bashing believer, I'm not. I'm not on either side of the fence. I have an open mind about both possibilities, but I have the common courtesy and good sense to discuss that where such discussion is welcome, or to discuss it here respectfully, conscious of what the site is, who it is provided for, and who populates it.

Free Republic is where I learned about Ayn Rand. It's what helped me fight back against the relentless brainwashing I was getting in grad school. Here is where I learned about conservative philosophies... and there are more than one. The notion that this is, first and foremost, a religious forum is erroneous: Religion and conservatism are not synomous. In fact, fully half of the believers in the world are collectivists: I'm talking about most black American churches, a huge section of Catholicism (the Vatican is not exactly a champion of American exceptionalism, in case you hadn't noticed), and of course, the entire Muslim world. Theism and atheism are not automatically aligned with any political axis.

Now, I don't believe God created the universe, but I do know Jim Robinson created Free Republic. I also know that if he'd kicked me off years ago for being an atheist, I would not have learned conservative philosophy at all. It's his forum and he will indeed always have the right to zot this account. I hope he doesn't but it's up to him. But it's not up to you.
