Why vote for a Milquetoast Moderate?
Because at least he can be browbeaten into nominating a conservative Supreme Court justice.
Also, because he will not be actively trying to destroy this Republic.
Look, I despise liberals/moderates at least as much as you; I'm just not willing to commit national suicide if I don't get my way.
