Video: Krauthammer Says Newt's Attack On Romney "What You'd Expect From A Socialist"

"On the bet, look, if he said $1 million, it would have been understood as not an actual offer but something that is outrageous. Meaning this is a slam dunk. But being Romney he thought well, maybe a million is too high and $10 will not be understood. So he chose the middle path, which of course is the wrong thing to do," Charles Krauthammer said about Gingrich betting Romney that he would not return money he made from "bankrupting companies" when he was with Bain Capital.

Is everyone in Romney’s loser corner!? I guess the best way to sell books is to bet with the loser and have more dissatisfied individuals....nothing sells more than misery.

Translation:

Krauthammer realizes that there is no way in hell that his RINO boy can beat Gingrich...lol.

...and some of the ankle-biters on here won’t even admit that Krauthammer is a Romney loyalist...right.

I think Krauthammer is a little too technical with his criticism of Newt in this clip. Newt’s comments about Romney’s failed businesses might not have been the best response that he could have had to Romney’s comments, but it sure doesn’t paint him as a “socialist,” as Krauthammer said it does.

It was a perfect quid pro quo response, and it cut Romney off at the knees.

Yeah, but we owe it to Newt to hand him the nomination (just like we owed it to McCain in 2008, and Dole in 1996, and Bush Sr. in 1988).

Newt’s qualifier while pointing out the socialist hypocrisy of Romney: “He won’t do it.”

Let these talking heads bicker amongst themselves, while we go about the business of picking our candidate. We know who the enemy is, and we are preparing for war, and they have inadvertently contributed to what may be the best warrior for the role. Irony does have a sense of humor.

There is a decided difference here. Newt Gingrich did not take a financial risk working for FNMA. Newt got his $1.6 million regardless of the tens of billions in financial losses that FNMA accumulated. Bain on the other hand did take a substantial financial risk and continues to do so in everything they do. And the money that Bain earned did not come from the US taxpayer. The money that Newt Gingrich earned did.

Gingrich should have simply kept his mouth shut and made Romney look stupid. Instead, he opened it with rash judgment and made himself look stupid. I suspect we will see a lot more of this over the upcoming months.

Exactly wrong.

Newt is way smarter than Romney. He was right to respond to Romney’s gaffe. He cut him off at the knees, rendering him impotent.

Which is what he will do to Obama.

This is a mere warning to Romney to surrender or you will get more of the same.

Newt is way smarter than Romney.

I could not disagree more. Newt may think he is smarter than Romney, but he is not. I believe a law degree and an MBA trumps a history degree any day, not that this matters. I wouldn't vote for either one of them. And if Mitt Romney wasn't in this race, you wouldn't even consider voting for Newt and his progressive government solutions.

I happen to think that FDR was one of the worst Presidents of the 20th Century. Yet Newt Gingrich thinks he was the best. Go figure. Gingrich is not the conservative he pretends to be.

Here's the bottom line. First of all, Mitt Romney has zero chance of winning the nomination. He can't win New York, Pennsylvania, California, or any Southern state. There won't be enough delegates remaining for him to win. He may win NH, MI, and CO, but I would bet he doesn't even win Utah. So once everyone figures that out, the next step on the agenda will be to nominate a conservative candidate. Except we will have an even bigger problem standing in the way - Newt Gingrich. And if Gingrich goes up against Obama, Obama wins. It will be 2008 all over again.

RINOs hatin' RINOs.

Not surprising from Chuck. He and the other beltway elites are in the tank for Romney.

If you measure intelligence by degrees, Romney is smarter. I dont. Regardless, of all the faults of both of them, they are both smary.

Newt has always had a quick retort to attacks even though he says he has matured. When human beings are quick to retort, they usually, without thinking, reach for the sharpest weapon at hand.

In Romney's case, it was the vast amount of money he made as an investment banker.

Was it a dumb thing for Newt to do? Yes.

Does it mean he's a socialist? Of course not.

Obama's winning edge was his color.

Are you suggesting that Newt is TOO WHITE?

Maybe he could get a tanning bed and work on that.

Criticizing bottom feeders for the way they make their living doesn’t make you a Socialist.

Amen. Newt took taxpayer money in exchange of providing bipartisan political support for fannie/freddie mac.
Bain was private company rescuing companies. Yes, people get laid off. That is the way free-market capitalism has worked always. Better than socialism, which is the alternative.

Too bad Newt’s new religion is not mormonism. That way he would be out too. Now people try to ignore that he joined every trendy liberal cause in the last 5-10 years. His conservative rating in the last 5 years is close to zero.

We have actual conservatives running too. Stop NewtRombey.
