Any non-Texan (apparently) can share my problem :

When the SHTF in the US, I truly believe we will divide. States will secede, and local governments will take over. Being in the North East, I love my country, and my land. I even have an attachment to my house. I’m not going anywhere.

But when I think about the division possibility of the US, Not only does my heart break, but I do gravely consider where I am. I don’t want to be in “The Progressive States of America”. I would like to go back to the Midwest - Among people who think as I do.

When the borders close, I’m not too sure those lands will have me, and my family.

The midwest has taken a decidedly conservative turn. As you said, "where people think like you do". Frankly an economic collapse will be global and the last place you really want to be is where you'll be a minority outsider.

Another thing that people need to consider is the tens of millions of illegals in the south will be joined by 10s of millions more. People there may find that they are minority outsiders in the places they've lived their whole lives.

If things really do collapse to that point, ME will not be among the “progressive states” because the conservative natives will drive the liberals back to the socialist hellholes they moved from.
