Trump Debate a Joke? A Reality Show? Beneath Office of President?

All of the above! Kudos to John Huntsman for saying so!

A Trump moderated debate has the potential to reach many times the number of viewers as have the other debates and thats a very good thing.

Hacks. Krauthammer and Rove are worried the process is spinning beyond their ability to influence things.

Is it better to have the likes of Wolf Blitzer or an MSNBC host moderate a debate?

I’ll watch it. It can’t be any worse than any of the others. The real joke is that anyone would criticize Trump when there has not been equal criticism of some of the other moderators, such as Brian Williams, Wolf Blitzer, Charlie Rose and Anderson Cooper.

Oh no, let’s not a let a successful American businessman/entrepreneur moderate a debate.

We need some blob from the Columbia School of Journalism.

Seriously, what are the criteria for choosing a moderator? They have to be totally devoted to the left and never had a real job?

Let the (Trump) cards fall where they may. He'll be better than the average alphabet newscasting moderator.

But Trump CAN’T moderate a debate. He doesn’t live, work, and breathe the air inside the Beltway.

Trump is not a journalist

That's in his favor. Why should we ONLY have liberals question our candidates?

Has anyone here EVER heard of a democrat debate moderated by a panel of conservative journalists?

People seem to be so happy about upsetting Karl Rove and Krauthammer and Will etc - and that is something to be happy about - that they are simply refusing to remember just how liberal and how out of touch with us Trump himself is.

He’s almost as liberal as Wolf Blitzer or David Gregory or John Harwood. Almost. It’s not a good thing, except that it does upset the likes of Rove (and I’ll admit that is a good thing).

I’m a bit conflicted. Not long ago, with my taste for decorum and traditionalism, I would have turned up my nose at the idea of the Trump debate. But many of these so-called ‘legit’ debates have already been crass and tacky to the point of being highly off-putting. Added to that, they are essentially being conducted from the liberal-media playbook, designed to put all the candidates in the most crummy light. It’s like ceding the battleground to the enemy before even starting.

Taking all that into consideration, I’m finding myself less concerned about a Trump debate. And since Karl Rove is vehemently opposed, that alone practically gives me a reason to support it!

Since Trump also runs the Miss Universe pageant, Newt must assume the debate will include a swimsuit portion. Here he is getting a good tan in preparation.

Trump is more “serious” than Jim Cramer.

"Shame on Charles Krauthammer..."

Give me a break. He's an editorialist giving his opinion, and as usual he happens to be correct. I don't understand why people have to go kiss Donald Trump's ring, much less participate in his self-aggrandizing attempt to become a king-maker; we would go crazy if Soros held court in a similarly ostentatious fashion. Trump isn't even a conservative, he's a "Trumpist" near as I can tell - all Donald, all the time. Watching he and Gingrich together hold their little press conference was like watching the collision of two supernovas of ego; utterly obnoxious.

I was seriously considering Gingrich, but I've now been reminded that along with his ideas, you get his ego and personality. Quite beyond the fact that he looks old, fat and positively disheveled - especially for a guy with a $500,000 credit line at Tiffany - the lack of anything approaching humility is a terrible turn-off.

...but the media has a dream:

After the Reality Debate on the once bankrupt ION, Trump will ascend to the top of Trump Tower to contemplate in solitude his choice for the Republican Party.

The country will hold their collective breaths as they await his exalted decision. The media press will be all buzzing with anticipation and whispering to each other...is he still up there, when is he coming down, how long before we hear his words?

Then after days and days of media speculation and nervous waiting they receive the word...THE DONALD IS COMING DOWN...THE DONALD IS COMING DOWN!!!

The media hoards rush to the Trump Tower elevators and watch as the elevator slowly descends to the bottom floor and slowly opens revealing a Donald they have never seen before.

His yards of carefully coiffed hair is now pure white, he emits a almost spiritual glow and is dressed in a flowing robe.

Somberly, he hands envelopes to all the clambering media, inside is one name...Mitt Romney.

The doors close and the Donald ascends back to the top of his tower to prepare for his next season as host of Apprentice on NBC.

Also worth pondering:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ION-Media-Networks-Expands-pz-1442188405.html

I’m not sayin’ Trump has a vested interest in promoting this just because ION announced this within days of Trumps Reality Debate promotion but then again he loves promoting stuff.

The debate is supposed to be on the ION network. I don’t know how many people he expects to be in the viewing audience.

There’s nothing wrong with Trump moderating a debate. He wants to know about trade with China and India. How are we going to deal with OPEC? Put the questions out there and let’s see what candidates have to say. I’ll watch it because you never know when you’ll catch an interesting fact.

A Trump debate format would be of Trump, by Trump and for Trump and little else.
