However, I have heard some say that Jeremiah could apply to USA (metaphorically or by implication).
While we may not experience God's wrath directly, I don't think that a modern-day Christian can deny that we will suffer through great(er) troubles in the world.
People have thought the end was near during every era.
It seems to me that the Holy Spirit is not as accessible to all as He once was. Just my opinion. Ask, seek and knock still holds true. But it could be that what measure of Spirit was available to all without asking is no longer.
One factor may simply be that the US is becoming more and more a post-Christian nation. The good and proper upbringing by each preceding generation is fading. And this lack of "salt and light" fails to preserve and illuminate our culture, neighborhoods, and neighbors.
If true, then whether the cause is mystical or practical, either way, the results are & will be scary.
