We need a national ID in order to have valid elections and stop vote fraud.

Yes, a photo ID for voting is not an issue.

But a by stealth retina scan is not acceptable.

Clearly mark of the beast technology. This will not end well.

Everyone in any run of the mill totalitarian state has a “national ID” of some sort and their elections are wholly fraudulent.

Too bad this has nothing to do with voting.

No. Wrong. Sorry.

Giving FedGov more power is never good, never results in better anything.

It is the responsibilty of the states to monitor elections, require state ID and such.

Oh yes, of course we must have a National ID to address one tiny issue that could be handled in a narrow focused manner but instead involves an utterly invasive & pervasive institution of a system vital to the imposition of tyranny.

“Where are your papers?” used to be (not long ago) representative of the most brutal communist, fascist & totalitarian governments, something that would be fought against to the death by the majority of patriotic Americans. Now it’s justified by them with “oh, we need that to confirm you’re you for a few minutes a year”.

NY had a fine vote-fraud-stopping system: a copy of your signature at the poll. You sign in, they compare your sig to what’s recorded, done.

But no. You’re OK with legislation which makes your CARD _you_, while “you” without it are a legal non-person subject to incarceration until “things can be sorted out”.

ARGH!

Wrong. Any photo ID will work, along with voting in person.

We don't NEED this. All we have to do is enforce the existing laws.

If you're for this, you're on the wrong forum.
