“The Beechcraft T-6 production line employs a total of 1400 people in 20 states.” If they are not union employees, it would go a long way towards explaining the Brazilian order.
Obama Administration Sends Weapons Contract to Foreign Company with Ties to Iran
It appears that the head of the international association of machinists, the union that represents Beechcraft's employees had some not-so-nice things to say about Dear Leader. Direct link to video here
He'll still get the drone vote.
Very discouraging that the USA can no longer build a good prop fighter any more. Was not to long ago that we build the best.
Steam coming out of my ears....merely upon reading this!
What is that line about “destroying from the inside”? When will The People get sick of this treachery and rise up to stop it?
“The decision appears to favor the Super Tucano built by Brazil’s Embraer....”
.
I wonder how many congresscritters bought Embraer stock last month.
Now this person knows of what he is speaking. The Obama administration didn’t select this aircraft, the Air Force did!
>Where is Congress?<
.
You can’t expect Congress to protest when they bought Embraer stock based on insider info.
I would like to know exactly how much pull the WH has in these contracts, even the Dem congresscritters should be looking into this if the plants are in their district.
That being said on a side note that aircraft looks like it was meant to fly, bet she handles great.
The largest stakeholder of Embraer is Bozano Group, owned by billionaire Julio Bozano.

In 2008 he entered into a strategic alliance with George Soros.
If you know this, can you explain the reasoning used for the selection?
A couple things - first off, the Super Tucano will be built under licence in Florida. Second - Beechcraft isn’t exactly a glowing symbol of buy American. They’re owned by a Canadian company, and their T-6 Texan is actually a Swiss aircraft, the PC-9, that is built under licence.
Arderkrag, there is a law concerning that - all defense purchase must have majority American parts. That applies even when it’s a foreign company that wins the contract. Most of the time, that means that winning company will either set up a new plant in the US, or will partner with an existing American company and jointly build it. When Beretta won the rights to producing the next military handgun of the US military, they had to set up a plant in Maryland to build it. When the US military wanted Harriers, they were built by Boeing. When there was a competition between Boeing and EADS to build the next generation of tankers, if EADS had won, it would have been built of 80% American made parts in a new plant in Alabama.
Forgot to mention this - the new Tucano aircraft will be built, under license, in Jacksonville Florida. The won’t be imported from Brazil.
Dear Leader once again, dissing American companies and workers. And according to him, we are considered too lazy ! The work gets outsourced overseas !
Carter gave Iran to the Aytollah well before Reagan’s election in 1980. That ought to help you with the timeline.
And actually, I believe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard is currently operating about 40 of the Brazilian T-27 Tucano aircraft, not 15.
More recently, though, as regards Brazil’s relationship with Iran, in November 2009, President da Silva invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Brazil for a state visit.
Following up on that, in May 2010, da Silva helped broker a deal in which Iran would ship only a portion of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey for reprocessing; the rest would remain in Iranian hands, where it could be further enriched for nuclear weapon production.
Brazil is working with Iran and, IMHO, we should not be dealing with them on military matters, particularly in arming our allies in Afghanistan, whom the Iranians will see as enemies.
The Super Tucano is not a bad aircraft for counter insurgency. I believe the AT-6, which is based on the proven T-6 design, will be as good...and it will be produced here in the states completely by Americans.
The Brazilians are talking about sending license kits here to the states to allow the aircraft to be assemled here...but that is a shell game and we, who are providing these aircraft to our allies, will not be in control of it. With the AT-6 we would.
Obama continues his war against America.
Those will be licensed kits sent here by Brazil. It will be assymbled here...but not designed or manufactured.
When supplying arms for our own allies, I would prefer we be in charge of the pipeline, not someone who is potentially in bed with the very enemies those allies may have to fight.
I guess they will buy the rocket pods and rockets from the Russians as well?
