Bob Shrum Comes Out 'In Defense of Jon Corzine' Prominent Democratic consultant defends the 1 percent. NOV 19, 2011 BY MARK HEMINGWAY

Prominent Democrat and presidential campaign consultant Bob Shrum has an, uh, interesting column in The Week defending former Goldman Sachs CEO, U.S. senator, and New Jersey governor Jon Corzine.

As you might also recall, Corzine has been in the news lately because his latest Wall Street venture, MF Global, collapsed amid very serious accusations of illegal conduct, taking hundreds of millions of investor dollars with it.

But according to Shrum, this MF Global unpleasantness shouldn't obscure what really matters--that Jon Corzine is a good progressive:

And in the wake of the bankruptcy of brokerage firm MF Global, the media's portrayal of Jon Corzine, MF's ex-CEO and a former Democratic senator and governor in New Jersey, strikes me as profoundly unfair — and not just because he's a friend.

Corzine, one of the most principled and capable people I met in 40 years in politics, is a genuine progressive who ran for office for all the right reasons.

The world is not yet talking about nor is it fully comprehending the damage this MFGlobal thing will wreak.

This is a brand new frontier in fraud, and anyone who defends John Corzine should be excoriated in no uncertain terms. Until Corzine is jailed, the financial system has a very serious and importantly, new piece of vulnerability.

This has to be fixed. This has very serious potential to destroy financial markets across many venues.

I don’t regard this casually. The virulent scumbag Corzine should have his passport revoked and be placed under BILLION dollar bond. Right now. PS: He has it.

The chattering classes just need to hear reenforcing comments to keep going. That is the only thing this dope is good for.

“Corzine, one of the most principled and capable people I met in 40 years in politics, is a genuine progressive who ran for office for all the right reasons.”

Corzine is a thief who stole thousands of dollars from me, and Shrum just wants to get a cut.

After a fair trial, they both deserve a first-class hanging.

“brand new frontier in fraud”

You got that right, friend. Corzine’s theft of segregated client accounts is virtually the same as a banker clearing out his bank’s vault and stealing depositors’ money. When the depositors went to get their money, the banks doors were shut and its telephones disconnected. Meanwhile, the banker sips champagne in his mansion, knowing full well that his comrades in the White House will protect him. Ah, what a fine example of a progressive public servant Jon Corzine is.

There is no reason to expect that such will not happen in the near future at your bank or broker. It seems that the ruling elite is empowered to steal from the little people without concern of prosecution.

We do not have rule of law in the US; we have the law of the rulers. America, the idea, is no more, or at best on life support.

“Corzine, one of the most principled and capable people I met in 40 years in politics, is a genuine progressive who ran for office for all the right reasons.”

I've had friends who knew Corzine back when he was at Goldman Sachs.

Lets get a few things clear here.

Corzine did not "leave" Goldman Sachs, he was fired.

The Corzine that they knew at Goldman Sachs, they said was a good guy, a former marine, and a dedicated husband.

The Corzine that stepped into politics, was a sleaze bag, who paid off black churches to get endorsements, cheated on his wife (for political reasons no less) and lied to his own friends of many years, and cultivated such a sleazy culture of corruption, that even by New Jerseys lax standards, was embarrassing.

His administration, openly engaged in extortion and blackmail. He himself, engaged in so much unethical behavior (sleeping with the head of a union that he was supposed to be negotiating with, and thats not a rumor or gossip, thats an admitted fact), that one has no way or knowing which way to turn without feeling disgusted.

Since he was fired from his job as C.E.O., his moral compass has pointed straight to hell, and his ethics have been discarded. If Bob Shrum, who only knew Corzine from his entrance into politics starting as a client, thinks highly of him, that said loads of bad about Shrums other clients, even by the worst of democratic standards.

In other words, Shrum didn’t have money invested and stolen by Corzine

Thanks Steelfish.
Prominent Democratic consultant defends the 1 percent.
Well of course -- where do people think the money comes from to wage war against the society?
