I wish the VA would give ALL honorably discharged veterans an ID to validate and verify their service.

I served 10 years with some combat service and only have a DD214 to show for it. I’m not going to pin my medals on my chest and demand free things. I just wish there were better ways to identify and prosecute frauds like this.

Essentially, anyone can claim they served.

As long as the VA I.D. card was voluntary (you don’t HAVE to carry it except to places where you want to easily show that you are a veteran) I think that would be a good idea.

As for that article, I have no problems with peaceniks per se — people who wish there were no war in the world. I have big problems with peaceniks who cast mockery upon the services. To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt (whose name was adopted for the toy bear because he very decently refused to shoot a captive bear for a photo-op) it’s because of the Big Stick that America can Speak Softly and still get results.

You didn’t gey the pink ID when you were discharged?

I have my retired Military ID to show them. What I claim can easily be verified.
