I was, I think, the first conservative to charge that Politico and the media were engaged in a high-tech lynching of Herman Cain.
Since that time (Sunday night), several influential conservative bloggers and writers have demurred. Race, they insist, has nothing to do with this story; and conservatives should stop playing the race card.
Cain would have us believe his critics are racists, declares Jennifer Rubin. And that really sickens me, emotes Quin Hillyer.
If harassment was the sort of blanket smear of black conservatives that [Ann] Coulter [and others] suggest it is, youd expect them, [other black conservatives], to have been smeared, too, by now, adds Allah Pundit.
Are Rubin, Hillyer, Allah Pundit and other like-minded cons really this obtuse and this clueless? Do they really think that race has nothing to do with this story? Really? Where have they been for the past 25 years?

As mentioned Cain is not my first choice..but I am seeking information about him that might be more favorable than what the media or the debates is giving us.......This was from a comment section on another site I found quite interesting on Cains abilities in what he’s done besides businesses he’s been in.....
Quote...”Cain’s website indicates he had a Bachelors degree in Mathematics,.. a Masters degree in Computer Science (Purdue)........ and worked for years in the Navy on engineering/modeling support, and worked with fire control systems.
For those unfamiliar with what this means, it means he had the technical education and skill needed to provide support for the design/operation/maintenance ‘of Navy weapon systems’... (knowledge of capabilities of weapon system radars, computers, controlling software, munitions, communications, and the environment in which they operate).
Having a somewhat comparable background, it’s certain he had knowledge of other Service and Foreign military weapon systems ...(current, historical, planned, and in development)..... It’s also highly likely he had a security clearance, and very likely a high one.
Not always..some are very savy and can ride the rail for sometime.......but eventually they are snuffed out...reason being we have professional sniffers here who know what they sound like and have means of smoking them out...and it works.
see post 41 for an interesting take on Cains military experience with the navy....found on another site where the guy would likely understand what Cains resume in that area means...
I hate either side playing the race card..it serves no purpose whatsoever except to divide this country...enough already...there are certainly far more pressing issues with a country that’s falling apart in front of us all.
I remember a Movie about a Top group Of black Ace pilots I watched a year ago....the obstacles they had to overcome until they gained the utmost repect of their fellow pilots...in fact very well out did most pilots who weren’t black. I understand the last of them died not long ago....but it was many many years before the public was really aware of thier feats and abilities.....that should never happen in our day and age, that it took so many years for these guys to be honored.....but i was surely impressed when I did learn about them.
Yes, he is bright...but I am not convinced he is ready for the highest office in this land..and frankly I think he knows he’s not.
Had this been at any other time it would not be so difficult to pick him.....for that matter any of those who have run these past years...but we are setting the bar so very low via comparing them all to Obama, when he certainly should not be ‘the measure of standard’ for this office.
It’s the United States Of America’s Presidency, the most powerful country in the world...with a world in disarray as well as our own country... as another wrote also concerned about CAins lack of exxpereince at this time in our country....
“Can Cain downsize our underperforming citizens?... Can he outsource our workers to save money?.... Sell off some of our national assets to generate revenue?....like it or not, the business of governing is messy and filled with compromise.
Cain has yet to demonstrate the patience for that, and his resume is rather like the political science major trying to get a job as head of a research lab...”
I am not happy about our selection for President.
You can ask that level of question, but it doesn’t mean the press was being racist in covering the facts of the story, which is what they’ve done.
Stop with the “Cain is a black conservative they must destroy” crap.
Obama gets a pass on everything and no conservative gets a pass on anything.
I suspect when it comes to black men the libs totally buy into the trope that all black men are sexually rapacious. So the minute a black man announced for the presidency I think they all ran to their play stations.
Actually, there have been rumors on the internet about Perry and women - not that I believe them - but I notice the press hasn’t run big time with these stories. But maybe that’s because he’s so low in the polls...
There’ve also been rumors about Perry and men (not that I believe them either).
We sound as bad as liberals here, making it about race. Do you remember how Newt was absolutely demonized, presented as the devil incarnate, before and after the 2004 election?
As to the idea that liberals think black men are sexually rapacious, I suspect that particular bias is no greater on their side than on our side.
But again, there are concrete reportable circumstances here with Cain: the NRA paid settlements involving sexual harassment charges. Those charges could be flimsy or false, I really don’t know, but the payments were made.
The media have been unfair per usual blowing this all completely out of proportion compared especially to the nonreporting they’ve done (or not done) re: Obama. That is very much true.
But playing up a race angle, just because we *know* that they have such biases, is no more acceptable IMO on our side than on their side.
(The Thomas issue was different, there they pulled out of nowhere someone who had not only not filed any complaints at the time, but had subsequently followed him from job to job. It was much more reasonable then to point out the black stereotype they were playing into when they chose to create that controversy out of nothing.)
Well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I do think there’s a strong element of race to this story - it’s just my opinion.
I don’t underestimate the american people fed up with Obama and are quite willing to vote against him no matter who the candidate is.
However it’s certainly well known Newt would cream Obama in a debate..he’s a master debater. Romney not so.
Too may people simply won’t vote for Romney...even if it means another four years with Obama...willing to let him take the fall for the mess this country is in.
Newt’s coming up nicely in the pack...and he could certainly win over Obama...most of the candidates could sonce he has set the bar so low.
That’s somewhat what we’re here to do and have.
FReegards.
Regards to you, too!
