While mingling with protestors at the Occupy Wall Street demonstration in lower Manhattan, actor and outspoken liberal Alec Baldwin explained the importance to consumers of entrepreneur Steve Jobs and added, "I think capitalism is worthwhile."
At the event, Baldwin was approached by people with "Wearechange," who asked him about abolishing the Federal Reserve. Baldwin said he did not know whether that would be a negative or a positive but said, "You have to have capital markets in this country."
"You cannot not have strong capital markets in this country or the country is going to go down the tubes," he said. "I think most people want change in this country but they don't want the country to go down the tubes. They don't want the country to become England."

capitalism served him well.
Surely pigs are flying and hell is solid ice.
Ummm, what we don't want is for the country to become Zimbabwe...
Wow, only five words and he manages an oxymoron in the first two.
Must be a lib actor.
"What's in your wallet?"
It was reported that Baldwin had a net worth of $65,000,000.
“Always Be Closing!...I made $975,000 last year, how much did you make?!?”
That was an interesting movie....and I must say that Baldwin’s part, though short, was the best part of the movie. Glenngary Glennrose??????
Glengarry Glen Ross
It’s definitely one of my favorite speeches. He’s such a jerk that it’s great.
BTW, I've never understood Hollywood liberals. They enjoy all the fruits of Capitalism at the same time whining about how "evil" it is. In Cuba, Sean Penn and Harry Belafonte would be laboring in sugar cane fields for a dollar a day. Instead of living behind gated walls in 15 million dollar mansions. And IF they wanted to make a film, they'd better get "permission" from the government, lest they have a point of view not in tune with what Castro finds acceptable. And Castro ain't down with nudity or bad language.
“F%$k you! That’s my name! Do you see my watch? It’s worth more than your CAR!” Blake, Glengarry Glen Ross. Classic!
Yes it was a good movie. As much as I disagree with Baldwin’s behavior and politics, I think he is agreat actor. Hunt For Red October....Jack Ryan...and he walks away from it. I’ll never understand that. The Juror...he did a great job. Malice....he was great. And of course it is hard to forget the European version of ‘The Getaway’.
I have to agree. Baldwin is an A$$, but he’s a hell of an actor. And hilarious on SNL.
“Put that coffee down. Do you think I’m f***ing with you?!?”
I had to watch the speech on youtube just a minute ago.
Texas - Like you said, he’s been in a ton of great movies. If I were to not watch movies of people I politically disagree with, I think I could only watch Charlton Heston movies.
First prize: a new Cadillac. Second prize, a nice set of steak knives. Third prize? You’re fired!
“I’d wish you good luck, but you wouldn’t know what to do with it if you got it.”
