By then Nixon had served 4 years in the House, over 2 years in the Senate and 8 years as VP.

He had run for Potus in 1960 and been defeated, run for Calif. Govenor in 1962 and been defeated.

To use his term, he had “been in the arena.”

Later Presidents through Clinton consulted with Nixon, even after his disgraceful resignation, based on his experience and knowledge.

Palin’s resume pales by comparison, nice lady that she is.

If she is to have lasting power, she has to take on substantive journalism, on wide ranging topics.

That means a broader perspective, than merely criticizing the media.

For hints, study Reagan’s essays which he wrote himself, and read on television, in the years leading up to his win in 1980.
