Morgan Freeman Admits Hollywood Has Failed Its Progressive Mission
Pajamas Media ^ | 9/25/2011 | Ed Driscoll

Posted on 09/25/2011 4:38:52 AM PDT by IbJensen

“Morgan Freeman, in an interview to be aired on CNN Friday evening, says that President Obama has made racism worse in America,” Noel Sheppard writes at Newsbusters:

PIERS MORGAN, HOST: Has Obama helped the process of eradicating racism, or has it in a strange way made it worse.

MORGAN FREEMAN: Made it worse. Made it worse. Look at, look, the Tea Partiers, who are controlling the Republican Party, stated, and what’s this guy’s name, Mitch O’Connell. Is that his, O’Connell?

MORGAN: Yeah, Mitch McConnell, yeah.

FREEMAN: Mitch McConnell. Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What’s, what does that, what underlines that? “Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.”

MORGAN: But is that necessarily a racist thing?

FREEMAN: It is a racist thing.

MORGAN: Is it not Republicans, wouldn’t that say that about any Democrat president?

FREEMAN: No, they would have gotten rid of Bill Clinton if they could have.

MORGAN: They tried.

FREEMAN: They did try, but still. I don’t, they’re not going to get rid of Obama either. I think they’re shooting themselves in the head.

MORGAN: Does it unnerve you that the Tea Party are gaining such traction?

FREEMAN: Yes.

MORGAN: Why?

FREEMAN: Well, it just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. “Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.” You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water.

Noel responds:

Is that what it shows, or does it show that people — not just those in the Tea Party — have lost faith in this President?

Obama’s poll numbers continue to sink. This includes amongst reliably Democratic supporters such as Jews and African-Americans?

Have Jews and African-Americans suddenly become black haters?

The reality is that more and more people — even some in the media, perish the thought — are coming to the conclusion that Barack Obama was totally unqualified for the job as president, and that his performance in the past 32 months proves it.

What folks like Freeman don’t get is that there’s nothing racist about such feelings, and to make such an accusation is, well, racist.

Of course. But just for the sake of argument, let’s assume Freeman is right — that America is a racist cesspool. What role does his industry play in shaping that? Sixty years of films such as Stanley Kramer’s The Defiant Ones and Guess Who’s Coming Dinner. Twenty years of Freeman himself alternating between playing either God or the president. All for naught. If Freeman is right, then Hollywood has failed in the role that his fellow progressives set out for it. And he has failed in his choices of film roles.

But then, as fellow Hollywood elite Nora Ephron wrote in April of 2008 at the Huffington Post:

This is an election about whether the people of Pennsylvania hate blacks more than they hate women. And when I say people, I don’t mean people, I mean white men. How ironic is this? After all this time, after all these stupid articles about how powerless white men are and how they can’t even get into college because of overachieving women and affirmative action and mean lady teachers who expected them to sit still in the third grade even though they were all suffering from terminal attention deficit disorder — after all this, they turn out (surprise!) to have all the power. (As they always did, by the way; I hope you didn’t believe any of those articles.)

To put it bluntly, the next president will be elected by them: the outcome of Tuesday’s primary will depend on whether they go for Hillary or Obama, and the outcome of the general election will depend on whether enough of them vote for McCain. A lot of them will: white men cannot be relied on, as all of us know who have spent a lifetime dating them. And McCain is a compelling candidate, particularly because of the Torture Thing. As for the Democratic hope that McCain’s temper will be a problem, don’t bet on it. A lot of white men have terrible tempers, and what’s more, they think it’s normal.

And that was during the Pennsylvania primary. The Pennsylvania Democratic primary. So if those Democrats who supported Hillary were racists, if those Democrats (particularly those in Hollywood) who have abandoned Obama in 2011 are racists, and if the Tea Party is racist (pay no attention to the support they’ve shown to Allen West and Herman Cain, not to mention the diverse nature of the Tea Party itself — Morgan isn’t), then essentially Freeman is saying that America has made no progress since the days of the Woodrow Wilson and the Dixiecrats.

And his industry — and his ideology — must share some of the blame for that.

My, how low America has sunk when Hollywood looks so far down upon it.

And in just three and a half years, too.

I'm not defending Morgan Freeman here but this goes beyond normal Hollywood liberalism.

Whether they be black actors, journalists, or what ever, many black folks are deeply emotionally involved in BHO’s presidency. And 99% of it is the color of his skin.

People like Morgan Freeman never thought they would ever see a black president elected. Now that it has happened, they feel a deep, emotional bond. Some of them have more of a bond with BHO than even their own families.

So, they had, on Nov. 2008, the opportunity to see something they never thought would happen.

Fast forward to today. Those same black people who were emotional on that election night are now watching the first black president fail miserably. BHO has become a national and international laughingstock. They may think that BHO’s failures are a reflection on all black people. In other words, they may think, in the back of their minds, that BHO re enforces the stereotype that black people are not bright. That isn't true and BHO’s failures are more of failed policy than race, and many of those same policies that BHO is pushing have failed also when implemented by white politicians, but many blacks may not see it that way. It has to be someone else’s fault.

That's why race relations have deteriorated under BHO. And it was predictable

‘all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president’

We were in tears because some of us actually looked into his history and realized he was lying, cheating and stealing to get the Presidency. We were in tears because we knew he would be a Marxist disaster. I must admit I underestimated him. I still thought he would care what the majority of Americans would want. He doesn't care/doesn't believe what We, the People, want. He is intent on destroying the best country on earth. He believes he will reelected, too. Malignant narcissism on parade.

MORGAN: They tried.

FREEMAN: They did try, but still.

Well, so much for that line of thinking.

And I'll add that I think he's overrated as an actor.

My sad conclusion after reading Freeman’s words is that he is a very stupid person. His comment about “they would have tried to remove Bill Clinton” after we did try to remove Clinton reveals the mind of either a huge ignoramus or a truly stupid person. Which proves again that whatever intelligence lib actors have is in their acting ability. They all seem as dumb as a box of rocks in other matters.

I like him as an actor, and he said some independent things about race in the past, but he seems to have completely crossed over to the Hollywood lib mentality.

Agreed. I think he's forgotten his own words.

He did “loose” his racism. It was evident in the interview.

Yeh, this from the guy who is dating or maybe married by now to his step granddaughter ala Woody Allen. Morgan Freeman is a real bastion of moral integrity.

But that requires taking responsibility for one’s own fate - instead of taking the path of least resistance with the rest of the herd and bleating about how its all somebody ELSEs fault.

Freeman actually has a point. Obama HAS made race relations worse.

The "civil rights" movement of the 1950's and 60's was predominantly fueled by an enormous amount of good will from white Americans for black Americans, by a desire to ensure that black Americans got fair treatment. Did white American receive any amount of good will or gratitude in return from the black community?

All that good will has been draining away over the last few decades as parents see their children rejected from colleges that accept minorities with lower scores and who work less at their schoolwork; as white men get see job ads with the words "women and minorities strongly urged to apply". The level of resentment is rising -- and God help the black community if white folks start saying to each other "you know, I don't give a damn about these people any more".

I’m so sick of these big mouthed Hollywood a$$holes that open their ignorant mouths AFTER I purchase movies they are in. I wish that they would spew their crap before so I wouldn’t waste my money on them.

Hah, these people should just shut up. It not only reveals their ignorance but their true colors (as in black racist).

Somebody is now sorry that Morgan made it out of Shawshank. Pretty harsh, but these actors/singers etc. need to realize they are alienating at least one half of their audience by doing these liberal rants. Maybe more than a half.

He usually plays a super likeable guy in his movie roles and he needs to remember that.

A theory I have is that many black people who actually have had some success, tend to be the most racist, out of a sense of guilt, or worried that they won’t be seen as “black” by others. So they tend to say the most outrageous things and accuse everybody else of racism, to try to cover up for those feelings.

“Not surprising. I hope this jerkoff keeps spouting this BS.”

Another racist loser, put there by nothing but white guilt. I was as impressed by his “acting skills” as I was with hairy bellicosefunte’s “singing skills”. Those racist bastards sure like their women white, though, don’t they.

Fortunately for Morgan Freeman he's an actor because he’s not very good when he doesn’t have somebody else writing his lines for him.

That also works if you are President
