What exactly is the real purpose of Obama's Millionaire Tax? It's a bad idea with a very old pedigree indeed.

Purpose? Pure Populism trying to get votes when you know it is a bad idea. But that is “Bullhorn Barack” for you.

The purpose of the "Buffett Tax" proposal is to allow Obama to stir up envy and hate among the idiot masses, who will then vote for him because he "fights for working families." The purpose of the proposal is NOT to be enacted but rather defeated by republicans, whom he can then poison as being "on the side of millionaires and billioniares and against working families." Nobody actually wants the tax bill to pass.

Warren Buffett, having already joined the billionaires club, enlists the president in restricting membership so it doesnt get so crowded in there
Two ways to win - One: move higher up the ladder. Two: knock down those trying to move up... AKA 'the Buffett Way'...

the American elitists of today know full well the damage that their policies will do, and yet they press on, binding the body of the American economy with ever more red tape, just because they believe that the end result a Least Common Denominator economy, in which all suffer equally for all time is more fair, more sophisticated, more to boast about, than the sloppy, prosperous, successful growth economy we enjoyed before. I really dont believe they know what they do is counter productive. Dont underestimate the power of the ideologically driven to self delude themselves in to believing that what they do is actually good for the economy and mankind as a whole.
For decades the economy grew (most of the time) despite the ever growing burden of regulations and taxes.
The Left looks at history and sees this and from their reading of history deduce that regulations and taxes are good for the economy instead of seeing that at that same point in history the US still had the lowest tax rates, the most limited regulatory burden and most productive workers in the world.
Today none of those facts are existent in the US. Just the opposite is true. If the US is to dig itself out of this fiscal hole we are in changes in all three of those sectors must be made. We must reduce the regulatory burden on business, we must lower or eliminate taxes on business and we must increase the productivity of the American worker by simplifying work rules.

To bind his baby daughter’s feet
A hobbling woman stayed at home
While husband’s feet were free to roam
