Tucker Carlson is an east coast/New England prep school frat boy. I usually steer clear of stereotypes and generalizations, but this classless and immature behavior is typical of his ilk. It is also representative of a generalized anxiety felt by many white males of his background these days. They have lost their hold on power—the elite establishment formerly made up of their parents is crumbling, and they can’t stand it.
A virtuous Alaskan woman who breaks (ignores) all their rules and doesn’t carry the right pedigree is one breath from holding the presidential nomination? Drives them bonkers!
It's been slowly crumbling for decades, and it scares them -- that it's no longer sufficient that you have an "Establishment" pedigree, come from "old money", and know all the right people -- that now you actually have to be able to deliver. That upstarts from the middle class can create new businesses that might render obsolete the business models of all the places that Daddy invested the trust fund $$$.
There is no Democrat Party or Republican Party. There is the Establishment (with fingers in pies on the Left and Right) and the rest of us.
This is why DC comes out with ever more shelves of regulations -- so that people who know people who can issue waivers can have a competitive advantage. This is why the public school system is such crap -- so that it is unable to produce people who can compete with graduates of the elite private schools. Because the children of the Elites are no smarter than you and I, so they need some other way to sustain their advantage.
