That doesn’t make any sense though. FReepers all the time post articles from the MSM and other sources like NewsMax, Town Hall, etc. that are not behind subscription walls, and excerpt (and are often FORCED to excerpt). What is the intrinsic difference between a blogger posting a link with excerpt, and somebody posting a link to an article on Town Hall and excerpting?

Its not about free content for FR. Its about taking FR users and driving them to their blog, away from FR.

Plus blogs tend to be even worse sources than the lame stream media.

The answer showcases the difference between us vs. Europeans like nothing else.

They = the sheep

Has the “Norwegian TV crew” ever seen pictures or video from an actual abortion?

If they have, and their stunningly ignorant query remains, then they have gone fully over to sel-absorbed, soulless Atheism.

The Boss here has explained it in detail.

Well yeah, it sort of *is* about free content for FR. You realise that as soon as somebody writes something, no matter how bad or stupid or inane, it becomes copyrighted (not copyrightable, but copyrightED) material. Forcing them to post it in full on FR is a violation of copyright. That’s why we have to excerpt so many MSM sources - they have let FR know that they won’t tolerate copyright infringement. It strikes me that the main difference between these MSM sources and the blogs is that the MSM sources have the resources to sue FR, while bloggers generally don’t.

Yes, I know. Theft is okay when we do it. I understand that.

What’s a blog pimp?

Vendome is pretty good at explaining it.

"Why Is Abortion Still Such a Big Deal in America?"

Let's rephrase that so it makes sense, mm-kay?

"Why Is Abortion Still Such a Big Deal in America to God and those who believe in Him?

Once you ponder that, it might dawn on you.

Not sure I understand the connection to the copyright issue.

Well, like I said, any original content that is written down or otherwise transcribed into some sort of readable format (i.e. typed, published online, whatever) is, by federal law, considered copyrighted and under federal copyright protection. This is true regardless of what the content is, how big or small, known or unknown, or whatever else the author is.

As such, blog material falls under the exact same copyright protection, per federal law, as anything published in a major MSM print or online source. Posting somebody else's blog material up in full on Free Republic, presumably without their permission, therefore constitutes theft of the blog owner's copyrighted intellectual property - just as much so as if you plagiarised somebody's book or news article.

Requiring bloggers to post their own material in full as a condition of participation is on somewhat shaky legal ground as well. Granted, FR is a private website, and can set its own rules, but I'd still be a little interested to find out what the law would actually say about requiring somebody to abrogate their own rights just to come onto your property - I suspect many FReepers who see no problem with the FR policy towards bloggers would do an about face and get all mad at restaurants that post up signs forbidding concealed weapons on the premises. At the least, it's unethical to single out bloggers for selective abrogation of their copyrights when MSM outlets that swing bigger moneysacks and have more lawyers are able to force FR to respect their copyrights.

Welcome nOOb. You need to post your blog in its entirety. Free Republic is a great place to share ideas and thoughts but it is not a site you can pimp to support your business plan.

Don’t get me wrong. We love bloggers but Free Republic is strictly support by the community and ad free. We aim to keep it that way to maintain its integrity.

We pay good money to keep the lights on around here and for myself I pay more than most people make in a week. Not bragging but trying to impress upon you our ownership in this fantastic site and we have a vested interest in keeping Free Republic that way we like it and occasionally working to improve it for the user groups.

If your work is good enough and your thoughts compelling, trust me, you will get plenty of hits from Freepers and we’ll even tell other about it.

Dave Weinbaum, Jeff Head and few others come to mind. They thrive because they respected us and didn’t abuse the community or insult its senses.

Thank you in advance for your attention and look forward reading more of your thoughts.

IBTZ

Boy, reading through this, I seem to have started a bit of a problem. Look, I ‘m very new to FR. I’ve only posted 2 items. So could someone explain why my post and/or an excerpt from it (which the form page asked for) or anything else was incorrect? I sent a private message with the same questions to the fellow who was bothered by my post but I haven’t got a reply. So, fill me in. Is this a place for “Bloggers & Personal” posts or not? And, if it is, what protocol did I break?

The fact that there are people of European descent here and not in Europe aught to be a clue. We are descendant of Christians who could no longer tolerate un/anti-Christian Europe. And as Christians we value innocent life and don’t want to be complicit in murder.

Thank you for responding and welcome to Free Republic. I thought Vendome layed it out in very simple terms. What part didn’t you understand?
