The ONE and ONLY thing that keeps me in FreeRepublic is information.
I discovered, in 1998, that what I thought, others did also.
And not only did people here think like I did, they also had other thoughts I did not have, that were helpful to me in growing my increasingly aware political ken.
So here comes an article that, as far as I know, is factual (with video clips and sound bytes .. what more could one want?), and it DOES influence my thoughts to consider (or re-consider) Perry as a desireable president.
ISN'T THAT WHAT WE COME HERE FOR ???
I'm sending this article around to my circle of people and we'll discuss it and etcetera.
But I'd hardly endorse Rick Perry as adamantly as some here seem to want.
He's just a guy, not perfect, and IMO .. not the best candidate.
LOL,
I agree completely with your post.
I want to read any useful information about any candidate here on FR. Anyone running for President of this great country is applying for a post that is still the most powerful in the world. I say "post whatever you have about him/her, and let the chips fall where they may."
I read every post I come across about all the candidates for exactly what you stated: "That's what I come here for!". I'll leave it up to the site owner and his moderators to determine if something is "posted too many times".
It's way too early to determine who I will vote for, there are still possible candidates to declare themselves. All the postings that say "the polls PROVE that candidate X or candidate Y is going to win and candidate Z doesn't have a chance" make me laugh. American elections just aren't that easy or straightforward (regardless of what the pollsters and various FR posters would like to have us believe).
Perusing many posted articles gives a good familiarity about those posters who have an agenda, those who flow back and forth between truth and deception about their positions, and those who are honestly trying to learn about the various candidates.
FR is always a riot to read for snark, counter-snark, wit, witlessness, truth, falsehood, reasonableness and unreasonableness. And lately, it is humorous to watch those you and I would consider noobs, calling others noobs. Nothing like a good you're-a-noob battle to get the juices flowing here at FR.
Thanks for your post, I have been thinking along the same lines for a while now, but I seldom post since, by the time I formulate what I would say, somebody has already said it -- better.
