Tea party leaders in Surprise, Ariz., met with Arpaio and WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi Thursday morning to express concern that a fake birth certificate would be used to document the president’s eligibility to run in Maricopa County, where Arpaio is the chief law enforcement officer.
Here we go. I can just see Sheriff Joe saying, "I'm goint to Hawaii to see the original. If I don't, he's not on the ballot in Maricopa County."
1. I didn't know that candidates had to be validated at the county level. I thought the state certified candidates for President.
2. I thought that the candidate's name on the ballot was a placeholder for Electors to the Electoral College, not for the candidate himself. If the candidate is not being elected, then what qualifications would the county be looking for? Again, isn't that the state's function?
