Everything has a 'cause', therefore there is a first 'cause'. Which obviates the question: If the "first cause" is "first," then how can it have an antecedent cause?
But as noted elsewhere, that is a problem for cosmology (and theology), not for the physical sciences per se.

Betty, the proposition is not "Everything has a cause", but rather, "Everything which comes to be has a cause." First Cause, the Unknown Cause, The Alpha and Omega has no cause, He is as Alamo-Girl so often reminds us, "I AM". Sorry to interject in your conversation.
